La Torretta del Senatore

We liked the location of La Torretta del Senatore in this wonderful ancient town of Polignare a Mare. It is located in the heart of the old town with plentiful restaurants and plazas connected by narrow alleyways. You can’t beat it for atmosphere and good vibes. The B&B offered an appetizing choice of cheeses, meats and fruits for breakfast on a charming patio overlooking the sea, reached by elevator. Our room was comfortable in the bottom floor which seemed like a converted cellar with stone walls, a vaulted ceiling and a window looking overlooking the cliffs and sea. I would certainly return in the future if we visited this region of Italy.

It was tricky getting to the B&B since cars are not allowed to reach it directly. The surrounding town has very narrow streets and, if can find parking, you cannot leave cars parked overnight. We first parked in a town paid parking and took a Tuk tuk as close as possible. The communication with the B&B is via WhatsApp, which I don’t use normally. Since the paid lots don’t allow overnight parking, I discovered a large dirt lot next to the train station which was free and unrestricted.

The view of the ocean was very spectacular - 2 verandas! The apartment felt like home. Fridge, kitchen and an iron are most welcome. Great facilities and so close to everything. Lots of restaurants and bars (and gelato ) within 5 minutes walk. Easy access, easy checkin and out. Breakfast included was amazing as was the view from the breakfast veranda.

The location was perfect! It was a close walk to everything in the old town. We loved the two terraces overlooking the sea. Communications with the host were excellent. She let us know where to park, arranged for a golf cart to pick us up and answered all our questions quickly and efficiently.

We were not aware there were so many stairs! We managed just fine but would have preferred to have the bathroom on the same level as the bed. Parking was outside the Old Town so we could not drive up to the property to drop off our luggage.

The location is perfect, right in the center. The sea view was incredible. It was also quiet (just the sea and the soft noises from the city center, from the door) and we had a good sleep. The room has a stone floor, like in the city center: we loved it! The bathroom was very nice, with historical ceiling. There was a small kitchen with a kettle. We were actually 4 people, but there was enough space for all of us. Plenty of restaurants near by. Prior to arrival we were contacted by Donatella via Whatsapp and she could even arrange for an early check in for us, that was very kind! Unfortunatly we were leaving very early next morning and could not enjoy the breakfast which would be served in the restaurant near by, with a sea view. If we come again, we would love to stay in this beautiful room again.
