Guesthouse Ise Futami

Staff were nice, capsule style beds instead of bunk beds are much more private and they had blinds. Showers and toilets were spotless and lovely, and they provided loads of good quality free toiletries. The room had good aircon. The kitchen/common room was also a nice, large area and they provide an open air kitchen as well so people cooking food with strong odours don’t make the room smell. Pillow and blanket were clean and comfy.

The futon mattress was very thin so not very comfortable, but not too bad. The check in time is very late (from 17:00). The outdoor luggage lockers they provide were too small for a medium suitcase, so we had to use their solution which was bike locks you could attach to your suitcase to chain them to a rack outside. This did work but felt a bit risky considering the hostel is next to a motorway. You also had to download an app (Line) to communicate with them prior to check in which was annoying. Lastly, the location is good for Futamino Ura Shrine, but quite far from central Ise and the main shrines there. Travellers should note the train is infrequent and station there doesn’t have IC card readers, but the hostel cannot control this. The hostel does provide rental bikes for a good price.

I was blown with this property. I didn't expect too much because I had to book this just cuz I couldn't find another cheaper place in town. The receptionist was soo kind and friendly — someone who visited Malaysia before! When I arrived, I was able to lock my bag using a wire and put into a locker, and everything digitally done via LINE app. I thought it was just a container dorm, but it felt like a real building up there. Eventhough it was a shared space, they provide you everything you need. It was amazing for a hostel! I had an upper capsule in mixed dorm, they put me as close to the female side (appreciate it). They had a locker, and changing rooms so you can change comfortably. They had a private female bathroom and toilets stalls for just female use. The rest mix. The setup was so considerate. So I didn't feel uncomfortable too much. They had eating space and a place to cook as well. I loved renting the bicycle to the aquarium and meoto-iwa. It was also not too far from the train station, lawson, and an izakaya next door. Super clean and neat places btw

The listing is extremely misleading. It's called a guesthouse, but it is in fact a capsule hotel. I reserved a "single room," but all I got was a tiny little capsule. For 5000+ yen / night. That's unacceptable in my opinion.
