Visitors to the Dordogne valley are surrounded at every turn by rolling fields of sunflowers, wheat, grape vines and orchards which provide a spectacular green and gold backdrop to the beautiful medieval bastide towns and chateaux which pepper the region. We are perfectly located to explore Bordeaux and Bergerac wine appellations including St Emilion, Pomerol, Bergerac, Montravel, Duras, Pecharmont and Monbazilliac. Vineyards are open to the public where wine tasting and wine tours are plentiful. The Saturday market at Ste Foy La Grande, voted ‘best market in France’ is bustling and vibrant and a perfect way to while away a few hours in the French morning sunshine. Colourful night markets, cultural and music festivals, brocantes and antique fairs run across the region throughout the whole Summer. The Dordogne is a haven for outdoor pursuits including, hiking, horse riding, cycling and water sports. The river offers local swimming beaches, canoeing and paddle boarding. Less than a 20 minute drive away is Le Lac du Gurcon, a natural, 70 acre lake with a sandy beach, swimming and water sports and the thriving and cultural city of Bordeaux is less than an hour away.
