It is wonderfully quiet, lacking all the tourists at the big resorts, and perfect. First day we watched whales off our lanai. Each morning we walked a 1/2 block off for coffee and pastaries then crossed the street to the park to enjoy our meal. It feels like I'm telling everyone about my secret fishing spot. Mahalo!

Highly recommend! My girlfriend and I had a great stay here. Excellent location in Honokōwai, easy walking to great eats and things to do.

We will rent #215 again! We loved this place! The updated kitchen had everything we needed for meal prep. Nice, updated bathroom. Comfortable large bed. Even the pullout couch bed was quite comfortable as it has a thick mattress. It was a magical experience to listen to the ocean lull us to sleep through the screen door . We went to a few resort areas and we were so THANKFUL we were at Hale Kai instead. There were days when we had the pool and/or beach area to ourselves. Coffee and card games on the deck while watching for whales were a huge bonus. The residents and other guests were super friendly and laid back. You can't go wrong if you're looking for serenity! The manager gentleman works very hard at maintaining the pool area and grounds. The barbeque grills are cleaned every day. Eventually the corners of the unit, the baseboards, and the curtains could use a good cleaning but it's not a deal breaker. I saw some bad reviews about the uncomfortable furniture and no air conditioning and neither were an issue. First of all, you're rarely sitting around in your unit because you're always outside. Secondly, air conditioning isn't necessary with the incredible flow of air from the ocean. Convenient shopping is within walking distance. The Farmer's Market grocery store makes fantastic homemade guacamole, salsa, acai bowls, and smoothies. The Times grocery store is within walking distance, too. Bad *** coffee often had a line but we enjoyed making our own and savoring it on the deck anyway. The bus system is very efficient and easy to figure out. If you are used to fancy, expensive resorts this might not be the place for you. If you appreciate peace, quiet and laid back Maui, this is the place for you!
