River View

We really enjoyed our stay at Riverview. The apartment was beautiful, modern and very comfortable. The lake view was gorgeous, and the whole area was so peaceful and calm. It’s a lovely place for a quiet getaway, with beautiful scenery all around. The Wi-Fi was also very fast, which was helpful as the local mobile network wasn’t great in the area. We had an issue when we first arrived, but the host dealt with it very quickly, took responsibility and went above and beyond to put things right. We really appreciated how attentive and considerate they were, and they kept checking in afterwards to make sure we were comfortable. We were travelling without a car, and getting an Uber around the area was quite difficult. We were worried about getting to the train station when it was time to leave, especially as some of the taxi quotes we got were very expensive. The host helped us arrange a local taxi, which made things much easier for us. One thing I would recommend for anyone travelling to the Backbarrow area is to come with a car if possible. If you don’t drive, it’s best to plan your journeys in advance and pre-book local taxis, as Uber isn’t very reliable there and you may not be able to get a car at short notice. Overall, we had a lovely stay. The apartment was beautiful, the surroundings were peaceful, and the host was genuinely helpful and accommodating.

Modern property in a quiet location. Well explained instructions on how to access the key for the apartment and a bonus of having a car parking space. Very thoughtful hamper on arrival. Didn't use but the property had a dishwasher and washer/dryer which would have been useful if we had been staying for a week or longer. Full size fridge and freezer. Easy to use appliances. Tea and coffee sachets provided. Pretty views from the balcony on the river and even saw a Heron! Very relaxing stay and would book the property again.

Nothing majorly that we didn't like... Looked like the property may have not been stayed in for a week or so as there was more dush around the property than expected, mostly in the bathroom. Would have been nice to have a hand soap or gel in the bathroom. Wasn't provided with a bin bag to put in the kitchen bin but thankfully we had brought one with us. The balcony area and windows could do with a little clean.

Peaceful, beautiful surroundings, loved the little balcony and seeing the river flowing by, we were blessed with the best weather and the balcony was a lovely cool spot. Appartment had everything we needed. The village was lovely and we had a lovely day going to the station up the road and catching the steam train to Windermere. Food at Anglers arm, 5 mins away, was very good.th

The only tiny niggles we had were personal to us so would be totally unfair to say we didn't like anything, I would go back as we've had a lovely few days away.

The property is positioned beside a river so it was lovely to have the sound of rushing water. It looked out onto the trees lining the river, squirrels bounding through the trees were an added bonus. The one bedroom unit is very comfortable and the area allowed for some nice exploring walks. The apartment had most of the household needs supplied, a pair of kitchen scissors might have been handy, but everything supplied is of high quality. The owner kindly provided a little welcome basket with tea bags, hot chocolate sachets and chocolate.

One suggestion might be useful. This is a self contained apartment in a fairly isolated area which I wanted. I realise that most visitors would be able to bring some supplies themselves, but for someone coming from a 23 hour flight from the other side of the world it might be helpful to include for an added price a basic package e.g. bread, butter, eggs, cheese, - just a few things to manage until a store delivery can be organised, as without a car there are no shops in the vicinity.
