I didn’t see anywhere that I’d get charged another $39 a night by the property - just a $50 deposit I would get back so the $343 more was a shock - otherwise it was all perfect!

If you’ve ever been to st Thomas you’ll realize there aren’t that many resorts. So when we found this little gem we always book here when we return. The grounds are well maintained. The beach is quaint with some good snorkeling. The restaurant is really good! The pizza bar is also delicious. Close to red hook for ferry over to St. John. What’s not to like about this resort.

CONS:1.Surprised by location of our unit. Photo on website led to believe we would be a lower level with view of pool / beach but our unit was at the top of the hill - a steep climb at my age. Receptionist informed us that company we rented from only had units at hill top so it wasn’t’ as if ground level unit was ever an option we could have been assigned. That is just flat out misleading. 2. Mattress was truly deplorable - very thin with wires? pushing up into my back. Had to spend 100.00 for taxi ride to department store & purchase an inflatable air mattress & hand inflation pump. 3. Two long strands of hair on shower floor. PROs: 1. Because we were at the top of hill we did get a nice view of the harbor despite overlooking the parking lot & lower units roof tops. 2. Aside from the deplorable mattress & shower floor hair the rest of the room was fine. Kitchen had all you needed except for just one large frying pan - a second smaller pan would have saved a lot of dish washing & more efficient cooking.Nice outdoor patio with table/ chairs. 3. Overall the property was very nice with a fine beach & good size pool. Friendly staff although not very helpful front desk when requesting info on things to do other than those offered by the resort itself. Beach front cafe nice as well as more formal Fish market restaurant but only ate there once since we had a kitchen. Would stay at this locale again now that we learnt what to do but would pack an air mattress. BONUS although the Elysian property was too small to take much of stroll there is a quiet road bordering the property with a few view points - steep hills like all of St.Thomas. Also the Ritz- Carlton is a beautiful property next store with public access beach where you also go for nice walk/swim.
