Excellent location, and excellent communications. Casa Olie is a self-check-in operation so almost all of our contact with our host, who was always responsive and helpful, was through WhatsApp. There was someone on staff in the lobby in the evening who graciously arranged for us a taxi to the airport for the following morning.
Our room did not have bedside lighting, only overhead - would have been nice for reading before bed. Otherwise, room was clean and efficient.

The location was great and we had a view overlooking the street which was very cute. They also gifted us a bottle of wine for our Honeymoon which was a nice touch!
It can be a bit loud at night as our room was on the street. The wifi connection kept dropping in and out. The shower pressure also wasn’t great.

The hotel manager answered fast to our questions and organised taxis. The location is great, so many great cafes and restaurants around. The entrance is so easy with PIN for house door and room door. The roof top is cute.

The location was close to everywhere you want to go in Oaxaca: the Cathedral, museums, restaurants, cafes, Tourist Information. The accommodation was clean throughout: bedroom, bathroom. It was quiet.
I had a problem getting into the accommodation on the first day because I didn't see the touch pad on the door. I went next door to the cafe and a gentleman there helped me. The hostess did send me information about how to get in, the door code, etc., but I guess I needed more explanation. I think it's difficult if there is not someone there to greet you and explain things in person.
I also had a problem when I was leaving. Probably a misunderstanding. However, I left my luggage in storage on my last day after checkout, thinking that there would be someone there to unlock the room where my luggage was stored when I needed to leave. But, there was no-one in the accommodation except for me at that time. I did not have the hostess' private phone number and she wasn't responding to WhatsApp messages that I was sending to the number I had used to communicate with her previously. It was getting very close to the time I had to catch my transport to the next destination. Again, I went next door to the cafe and a young man there knew the hostess' son, called him and asked him to contact his mother and explain I needed my luggage. If he had not been there, I would have missed my bus. Eventually, the hostess did get the message. I presume her son told her, and she sent someone to open the room with my luggage in it.
I was quite upset at the time, thinking that I would miss my bus.

bed was super comfortable, linen was so soft, beautiful spacious room with huge standalone bath tub and shower. cute little patio. staff were super helpful in ordering airport taxi, and check in all done remotely. best hotel for the money I’ve stayed in Mexico!

EVERYTHING! It was the best hotel we stayed in Mexico. Love the location, interior, staff, comfortness. Even when the check in/out process was all online and without key, i still felt very well taken care by host Ana and staff Rosi. Everything are well communicated over whatsapp and even when there was questions/issues, it was solved very fast. The hospitality level is just incredible. Ana will do her best to make us feel relax.
Even the property is not next to the main street but it was still quite loud when motorbike/lorry passed by. We lived in city and had ear plugs and were pretty tired at the end of the day, so it didnt bother us much. Echo of the living area can sometimes be heard in room as well. But mostly only during noon.

Location is perfect, right in the action. Staff are fantastic and always on hand to sort taxis, toiletries and other necessities. There are no keys, just codes - really convenient!
The air con doesn't cool down the room enough.

So close to the center/action, easy to find, door padlocks = no key needed (amazingly easy!) Well equipped, beautiful roof terrace!
It’s made of concrete so you could hear a mouse whisper. It’s also REALLY loud outside very early in the morning, so quite difficult to sleep in.

No breakfast!
Check in problems! We got screwed just cause they didn’t want to kick somebody out who was in our room at OUR check in time

Decent location near the zocalo
No humans! We couldn't believe it! You go to Oaxaca to interact with the place, the wonderful culture, the welcoming locals... And the place is still running Covid-style with no reception, no keys, no people at all, just a whatsapp and a cleaner - convenient and economical for them no doubt, but totally inhuman. Felt like a surreal, post-apocalyptic scene at times. Great if you like this sort of thing or are that paranoid about disease and other people... but if you're in Mexico and going to Oaxaca in the first place, I can't see why you would want to stay in this environment.

The location was excellent, very close to the city center and near infinite bars and restaurantes. The room was clean and the bathroom was very spacious (the shower was a highlight).
It's a bit noise, although this didn't avoid us to have two good nights of sleep. The bed was just ok, it would be great if it was larger (as well as the room).

The location was perfect. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Very simple but tidy room with everything we needed.
It’s on a busy street which was fun but we needed to wear ear plugs to sleep at times.

The room is clean and spacious. TV is big and has Netflix. The location is amazing - we could walk anywhere in Centro from the property. Taxis were also easy to call from the location.
My partner though the bed was a little hard but I thought it was okay so it’s just personal preference.

The location of the property was great, and there was a great cafe/rooftop bar opposite. The staff were very helpful, although we didn't see many of them whilst staying. The room was big and a comfortable bed.
We did have an issue with our room on two nights due to heavy rainfall which was a slight inconvenience but the staff helped us sort this out and were very keen to try and make sure our stay was pleasant.

So clean and comfortable. Very good location!
The concierge is readily reachable by whatsapp and was so helpful in arranging transportation. One the day we had to leave for the airport there was a protest and the taxi company alerted her that we should leave 30 min earlier than planned. We would have never known on our own and would have been sweating if we missed our flight.
The pictures make the place look a little nicer than it actually is. Also the cleaners do not respect the do not come in sign and will come in to tidy up anyways - but they are really nice. I did not have any issues with theft, but would have been nice to reuse towels etc.
In addition, the front door opening and closing creates a vacuum so that it make your own door rattle - very loud.
Lastly, one of the springs in our bed was broken so there was a spot without support.

Casa Olié's location is unbeatable as it is just minutes from the Zócalo of Oaxaca. From the hotel, all of the historic city center is within easy walking distance. I used my room often as a convenient and quick respite during my many forays into the city at day and night. I also loved the great measure of privacy afforded by a system in which you are given a code for the lobby and bedroom doors. Like many old Spanish colonial buildings in Oaxaca, Casa Olié has a rooftop patio perfect for relaxing at night. I would definitely book here again.
10.0 / 10.0
My second booking at Casa Olié provided me a room called Montauban. To my delight, I found that I had my own private patio! Since it is a patio only for the Montauban room, one can slide open the glass door, keep the screen door on, and sleep almost al fresco. I only wish that I could have stayed longer in Oaxaca. If you want an intimate and charming hotel with all the modern works in a great location, this is it for you.

Modern design, location is good
Completely self service, no perks. This is expensive for Oaxaca. Bathroom smells. Two small water bottles meant for making two cups of coffee, this really no water in a place where you cannot drink the water out of the faucet. No directions on how to find water, and difficult to find anything open at night where you can buy water. Absolutely no one around ever. I was there for 7 days got one small shampoo never replenished. Water only sometimes replenished, reminder this is just the bottles for your coffee. Also have the time the coffee pots didn't get replaced. No ammenties, will not stay here again.

Terrace
Very uncomfortable bed and pillows, noisy room and overall noisy property with disrespectful neighbors from other rooms.
Limited amenities, had to keep asking for toilet paper and shampoo even though we were staying for 5 nights they didn't supply enough basic toiletries.

great location, clean and comfortable.
