Brighter lighting so that you could read in the sitting room and see better in the he kitchen area

The apartment is appointed nicely, set up exactly as depicted on booking.com. The layout is perfect for a small family of 3 with a proper headroom on the first floor and a lofted bed above the cooking area. The apartment is quiet as it is located in an area “off the beaten path”. There are several restaurants and groceries a short walk from the apartment.

Communication with the host was limited at best. When instructions for check in were provided they were accurate. We communicated we were arriving from Bratislava on New Year’s Eve and had provided the host our mandatory traveler information per Vienna city requirements 1 week prior and were told to expect check in instructions the evening prior to our arrival. Instructions arrived 2 hrs prior to check in. Any other time this would have been fine, but on New Years Eve it was a bit unnerving to not have check in instructions prior to arrival with a 3pm check in……if for some reason there were a problem our recourse to find an alternate place to stay or fix the problem would be very limited.

The apartment is in a great location, and nicely decorated. Two bathrooms and a small kitchen are nice to have.

The bedrooms don't provide privacy for either guest, so be aware of that. When we arrived (with the outside temperature of 2 degC) the heating was off, as was the hot water system. The hosts hadn't informed us of this, so it wasn't until the next morning that we figured out how to turn the hot water system on. Once we did it also leaked (hosts never responded to this). They also only provided a single towel and single blanket per guest (2 of us) despite saying we could have extra towels. Even as a single person sleeping on a queen bed, I want more than a single pillow and comforter. Some small touches from the hosts would make the stay much nicer. Having the heat on for arrival, towels, and the apartment ready for guests, rather than having to figure it out ourselves.
