We loved El Cuyo, and the location of this apartment is just perfect. The beach was incredible with hardly anyone else on it during our 6 day stay. We were there with our 5-year-old, and the beach was perfect for her. The water was shallow pretty far out, and she was able to safely enjoy the waves. There was seaweed on some days, but it was easy enough to walk through it and get to clear water. We stayed in the apartment above the ground floor, which was one bedroom with 2 daybeds in the living room. The apartment was comfortable, and communication with Mathias was excellent. I don't think we could have slept without the AC in the bedroom! It was HOT (we were there in October).

We really enjoyed our visit here. The closeness to the beach was perfect! Magally was very efficient with her responses to any questions we had, and Christian was most helpful as well. Can't wait to come back!

Decent stay for two nights - we enjoyed the main floor unit with 2 bedrooms and walkout access to the beach. Fairly well-appointed unit with a decent kitchen and spacious rooms. We brought our dog and were charged an extra fee for doing so - fairly expensive, however (by Mexican standards), so be sure to inquire before booking if bringing your 4-legged travel companion. Also were charged extra for the use of A/C - again, by Mexican standards this seemed quite a high cost and we didn't even need the A/C in the end (the fans provided were more than sufficient at the time we were there). The owner graciously refunded us the cost, but it is also something to be aware of prior to booking. The onsite hosts were lovely, easily accessible and quick to reply to our requests.

When we travel to Mexico, we love to experience more of the real flavors of a country with rich heritage and wonderful customs. Most "tourist" destinations in Mexico offer great vacations, but those resorts could be located anywhere. This property in this location was very special to us. First, it's right on the ocean. You can see the beach right out your window and feel the ocean breeze and hear the ocean waves as you relax inside, Having a 9-year old that loves to swim, the waves were just big enough to play in, but not too big to worry about getting swept away - although I was always in the water with her beyond wading. Unlike many other tourist locations, this beach was comparatively empty. You can walk/jog for miles and not have to step around anything other than the many sea shells scattered all over. And on the several breezy days we had, the kite surfers were out which made the seascape even more lovely with all the vivid colors on display. The village of El Cuyo and the locals we interacted with were all friendly, helpful and accommodating. We didn't feel unwelcome anywhere and really enjoyed the charm that is unique around a small Mexican zocalo. We took a day trip to Rio Lagartos which was quite enjoyable but we could have just as easily enjoyed another day in El Cuyo. The caretaker - Magali (and her husband) were especially wonderful. They helped us with any and all requests including bringing us fresh fish to cook up for some great dinners we made in our own kitchen. The fresh coconuts were a nice treat mid-mornings as well. On our last day, I accidentally drove off with the apartment keys and the caretaker made arrangements to pick them up from us in Cancun. This was above and beyond in my book. The owner, Matthias provided useful information that also made the stay more enjoyable (ex. you might want to bring your own food and pesos from a larger town on your way in). I've read some past reviews and someone mentioned seaweed being an issue. We had seaweed too; however, the ocean remains shallow well beyond where the seaweed might show up so it was a total non-issue for us. Don't let this influence your decision to visit. Overall, we had a fabulous stay. Everything was just right. My travelling companion loved it so much that she started looking at property for sale in El Cuyo!
