Aurora Viewing Deck and Peaceful Retreat

A good spot for Aurora viewing as suggested in the title of the listing. We were so happy we managed to watch aurora on the first night of our stay. I also enjoyed the conversations with the host.

Great location in the woods, just minutes from food and shopping in Fairbanks. The property was very clean and comfortable. Host was very friendly and offered several suggestions of nearby activities.

It was great! No complaints.

We came to Fairbanks mainly to see the Northern Lights, so we were delighted to discover this homestay opportunity in a location just outside of Fairbanks. We rented a 4-wheel drive to ensure safe driving on snowy roads, as expected in March. We really appreciated that Stephen let us keep our car in his heated garage, which made going out and returning to his home so much easier. His home is comfortable, quiet and cozy warm, and yes, we saw the aurora every night from his patio. It was so helpful to be able to keep breakfast food in the fridge, and to have access to the kitchen and dining room. It was also great to meet Stephen, and to hear a little bit about living in the area. We highly recommend this homestay, and would hope to stay here again. P.S. The aurora photos were taken from the viewing deck!

The outside temperature only made it above 0 on the last afternoon we were there, so we had to work hard to stay warm enough when we went out. (One helpful tip: we stopped at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor Center almost every day, just to warm up and watch another informative video and check out another interesting display.) On our last sunny day, we loved walking on the trails at Creamers Field; even had a few dog sled teams go by us.
