Good location, 100% not worth the price

The building itself is beautiful and architecturally striking. The bellhop who brought our bags to the room was very kind and welcoming, which we appreciated

The hotel felt very dark overall, and the marble interiors created a cold, damp feeling rather than a cozy atmosphere. Being on the ground floor significantly impacted our stay — we could hear people talking in the courtyard, loud kitchen noise early in the morning, and children running and shouting, which was especially disruptive. We were surprised to see children at the property, as it didn’t feel well suited to families. Privacy was also an issue. Our room faced the courtyard, so we didn’t feel comfortable opening the windows since people could see directly inside. The bathroom window, although frosted, had a noticeable gap and also looked out onto the courtyard, further reducing privacy. For the price we paid, we expected something exceptional, but unfortunately the experience didn’t meet that standard for us. Other hotels in the area that we stayed in were far better and cost us 20% of this stay.

Would have been better if she wasn’t there

Not much

As soon as i walked in i ran into a very rude woman working at the front desk after an 8 hour flight she tried to tell me that i could not bring my dog to this already dog friendly hotel. Then she had a disgusting attitude the remainder of the stay. I told her i want a full refund if i cannot bring my dog. Details were already discussed prior to my arrival about bringing my dog so they knew about it.

Crumbling, colorful plaster, afternoon pastries and a friendly staff

This place has unique charm. The restored building from the 1800s shows a beautiful patina, a central atrium with a fountain and sculptures and colorful rooms that are incredibly spacious. it's right in the heart of Centro, but not on a loud main drag. They provide sodas and water and coffee for free and a cute honor bar, with beers, wine and kombucha for purchase. The staff is friendly and on the desk 24/7

The whole experience was lovely and seamless. No issues. It is a higher price for the city, but I think the output reflects the cost. If you are looking to really immerse yourself in a hotel moment, this is a great choice

A beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms

Our room was spacious and tastefully furnished, although dark. This was not a surprise to us, as many of the hotels housed in historic buildings have courtyard facing rooms. The courtyard itself is adorned with colorful murals and is especially beautiful. Breakfast was delicious, and we appreciated the complimentary snack bar and all-day coffee and tea. The staff were accommodating and even helped us arrange a taxi to the airport.

Two nights in a row, a group of rowdy American tourists returned to the hotel late and decided to have a loud conversation in the courtyard right in front of our room. They were extremely noisy, and the night staff did nothing to address this. I eventually had to ask them myself to take their conversation elsewhere.

Amazing rooms, unique vibes, and an awesome location.

The rooms are absolutely amazing! They have a unique design and vibe and we felt very comfortable during our stay. We also appreciated that breakfast was included (it was amazing) and that complementary teas, coffee, fruits, and snacks were available 24/7.

There was a day when the hotel was decorating, and things got a bit loud, but nothing else out of the ordinary.

Overpriced and tricks you with glamorous photos

It’s close to things and instagram worthy design, but feels hollow.

They forgot to bring the pillows we asked for when we checked in. When we asked again at bedtime, they said they couldn’t get them. It was our honeymoon and they didn’t do any special touches, and in fact the front desk lady was very clipped and said things like “you’ll never get in there” and “why would you want wine while in Oaxaca?!” When we asked for recommendations. She was also rude about helping us open the front door. Finally, the room was loud, with a night club banging above us all night long. The best part of the hotel was the bell hop who brought our bags to our room and helped with car parking- he was very kind.

Pug Seal is five star hospitality close to everything in Oaxaca!

The Pug Seal was incredible. Check in past 7pm was easy. We were two couples in two rooms. Hotel is stylish. Rooms spacious. Beds comfortable. Couches and seating aplenty. The building is naturally very dark; there is lighting EVERYWHERE in the room. AC and ceiling fans kept us comfortable. The bath products were natural and smelled great. Breakfast was outstanding. The dishes were as tasty as they were beautiful. The location is great. Everything we wanted to see locally was a 4-8min walk from the hotel. The greatest standout of the Pug Seal is the level of hospitality the staff provides. Everyone was helpful, welcoming. Isa was the absolute best. She ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff are able to arrange excursions as well as return airport transfers. Our flight was at 0630. The Pug Seal staff made this process worry free. They arranged pickup at 0500 which cost 400pesos and we were through security by 0530. On our last evening, we were sitting on one of the couches in the atrium waiting for our friends. My husband was sipping a cocktail from the honor bar while reading a book. He stopped, looked at me, and said: "This is the best hotel I have every stayed at." This is especially meaningful because he/we have stayed all over the world, in 2-5 star properties. The level of hospitality and thoughtfulness at the Pug Seal is truly amazing. FIVE STARS We can't wait to come back!

Charming Stay with Authentic Local Touches

I really enjoyed my stay at Pug Seal. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the Zócalo and the Santo Domingo church. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, and breakfast in the common area was both delicious and full of local flavors. My favorite spot was the terrace, with a view on the relaxing water installation.

The room we had was spacious and well equipped. The only drawback was the lack of a window, which felt a little closed in—but it seems that’s the design of the hotel overall, so worth keeping in mind before booking. Despite that, I would happily recommend Pug Seal and would stay again!

I can't say enough about this cute boutique hotel. The location, charm, aesthetics, warm staff won me over! I loved being immersed in a historical property and look forward to the upgrades they have planned for the future. The heart of the area is within walking distance and oh the street food..its a meat eater paradise. Too bad I'm a pescatarian. Overall it is a great option if you are looking for everything you need in a hotel...well except a pool for now.

If you want super chill ambiance this is the place

This is a very easy place to feel relaxed in, the ambiance is great , the staff are well trained, well managed and well selected. There are thoughtful things for guests, like a fridge with foc drinks in the room, snacks, and drinks for guests in the various courtyards the rooms are spacious and someone’s took, A lot of effort to make them comfortable , interesting and visual. Great big comfortable beds too. The breakfasts are great interesting, tasty and a good choice,

I would have liked the WiFi to be a little better , and that now we are now a spoiled, they set a high bar for other places ! The large shower are made from a grey marble as are the sinks and are on point with the rest of the facilities, though personally I prefer a wall mounted adjustable show than just a rainfall shower.

Creative and relaxing.

Pug seal is truly a gem. The staff was extremely kind and attentive. The property is very well kept and spotless. Coffee is available 24/7. The breakfast was phenomenal. Every detail at the pug seal is so well crafted. I truly enjoyed my stay.

Service staff were friendly and attentive. Common areas are pretty and designy. Location - close to everything.

Extremely overpriced for what it offers. No pool, no rooftop bar, no tub in my room, at over 400 usd a night it’s just not worth it, there are better options around. Also breakfast is a la carte, and takes forever… a buffet would be more practical.

Beautiful boutique hotel with an outstanding staff.

We absolutely love this hotel. The inspiring atmosphere created by the murals and architecture, combined with the service, and location make for a unique and transporting stay. The staff are exceptionally pleasant, helpful, and skilled, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived (quite late on a Sunday night). Ideally located in Centro, and they will arrange for a driver for fascinating tours of the archaeological and cultural sights, of which there are many.

Beautiful boutique hotel, walking distance from everything

This is a stunning little hotel in a bustling part of oxaca! Close to everything. The rooms are just breathtaking. Clean, well maintained. The little water feature in the courtyard is beautiful and our daughter enjoyed the swings. The breakfast was just spectacular!! At par with any of the fancy restaurants in the city. The kitchen staff were very accommodating, cooking for us an hour early when we had to be out for a day trip early in the morning. There are evening snacks which our daughter loved. The front desk staff were very helpful, accommodating and friendly. They gave us the impression of being a concierge, which we realised they perhaps were not, as their knowledge on celebrations in the city wasn’t exactly up to date for some of the events. But that’s perhaps on us. Overall this was a great stay which we would gladly repeat.

It’s expensive. The rooms could do with better storage. Nothing else!

Best reception team! Super helpful to find great spots in Mexico, and care a lot about their guests. Hotel is super central, in a historical building, a lot of charm! The common areas are very nice, great to chill after a day of visit. Will come back for sure!
