The house is extremely characterful, yet managed to be clean and airy and the ceilings were surprisingly high - downstairs at least. The kitchen & dining rooms were especially nice, as was the outdoor terrace garden with fantastic views. The sitting room with its fireplace was a comfortable environment to chat and enjoy the space. The tearoom at the end of the drive was an added bonus and there are 3 pubs within a 30mins walk.
Having only one shower, and it also being downstairs, wasn't ideal, but workable. Onsite parking is tight for 2 cars and the entrance to the property is very narrow, especially if reversing. Street parking is possible, but can get busy when the tearoom is open.

I love the historical feel of this property. We came up to the Lakes to follow some of the walks recorded by Dorothy Wordsworth in her journal, as well as cooking some of the dishes she and her sister in law recorded in their family recipe book. The cottage was the perfect backdrop for our plans and the carpet of daffodils along the bank of Troutbeck by the village church was the icing on the cake.
If it were up to me, I'd paint the white kitchen cabinets with Annie Sloan chalk paint in the particular shade of blue that Georgians liked to use because they thought it discouraged flies.
But apart from that, I can't think of anything.

An amazing historical house but with all the modern comforts, settled in a green breathtaking views, a very good location to explore the lake area, it was a unique and unforgettable experience. The house was very clean and had all the equipment you need. It was very spacious for our family of 5. You can easily cook, do your laundry ext. A warm recommendation to the old post office caffe just across the corner.
It’s an amazing place, if you can book it you are lucky!

Nice quiet location but in easy walk of a bus stop. Kids loved the old cottage and the walk to the mortal man for food and drink
