Hanlin Lodge

I enjoyed the peacefull location in the bushveld. It was comfortable and all essential kitchenware was provided. Plenty of wildlife and birds on the property. Enjoyed short walks and a longer jog.

Upstairs basin didnt have cold water even when the shower did have. Creeky wooden floors upsairs disturb guests in downstairs bedroom. Not such a big problem though.

The location is wonderful, peaceful, relaxing and still able to enjoy the great selection of wildlife while sitting on the veranda, wonderful. We were 30min from town of Modimolle with ample supplies for our stay.

There was nothing we did not like.

I like the self-check in - it gave flexibility and was contactless. The view was exceptional and there are a few little walking trails straight from the cottage. Loved the outdoor shower and the bath with a view! The seclusion of the cottage was great - no-one else around us and good privacy.

The cottage was full of bees, they came in constantly during the day. It seemed like an attempt had been made to eradicate them, as there were dead bees all over the floor, but the hive seemed to be inside the structure of the cottage and they came in all the time. It was a self-catering place, which we expected, but there were tea & coffee tins, as well as salt & pepper shakers, all of which were empty. Even for self-catering, these might be nice things to offer guests. The wifi wasn't working most of the time, which the hosts mentioned seemed to be a regional issue, but with no signal it meant we could not communicate. Normally this is fine for a quiet, private weekend away (I don't mind knowing I won't have connection), but we had some urgent messages to send but couldn't.
