Nice place but poor communication with owner

No toilet rolls...the washer didn't work...and once reported to the owner...lip service saying she will try and sort it(i now know she already knew the washer wasnt working as the housekeeper had reported it to her previously a while ago🤔?....also the hot tub wasnt plugged in properly this meaning remained freezing cold(that was the main reason we booked it...couldnt get it fixed the following day but hey ho🙄...had a chat with owner the following day on phone which got heated at some points from us both but I think we were both rough from previous night and timing wasnt great...it is a great house..but had some bad luck...I'm still waiting on an offer of compensation from the owner but nothing as yet....originally I asked for 1 night refund but refused blankly!!....I'd be happy if she offered a free complimentary stay for 2nights in the future excluding peak times rather than monetary but hot tub heated before arrival🙄

The fire alarm wasn’t working properly this was out of the control of the owner but it meant we left early on check out as the alarm wouldn’t stop.

We had a wonderful stay once again. The facilities were great- particularly the kitchen equipment and hot tubs. Great use of the space and plenty of seating options and spaces to use

Could of potentially had some summer bedding as it was very hot, we had to purchase some toilet paper and kitchen roll. The upstairs bathroom was missing hooks on the back of the door (I’m sure these are due to be fixed) but made it very difficult to hang towels up when showering

Advertising property as having a hot tub to be sent a message after booking asking for another £170 to use the hot tub. Reason given is that it is operated by a 3rd party, however, this is not stated in the property description. Its the same as advertising a 3 bedroom to be charged extra for the 3rd room.

A lovely accommodation in a great location- with a host who is very welcoming

The property was lovely and clean and decorated to a high standard throughout. The hot tub was a great touch. The host was very responsive and accommodated us to stay later than check out.

The internet was very limited. However, it was clear this may have been due to the location as there were numerous WiFi boosters throughout the property. Unfortunately, the bed in the master bedroom was very uncomfortable.

Our stay at North Lodge Lancaster

I found the furnishings to be very homely with both the kitchen /lounge & bedrooms very spacious. Despite being near a busy road, it wasn't half as noisy as I feared it might be! The staff were very prompt at responding to queries. Whilst the location was pretty decent & not too far from the main city centre & amenities. The hot tub was of course, a nice added bonus.

Having paid over £1,000 for a 9 night stay; £60 of which went towards cleaning charges, it was disappointing therefore to find numerous cobwebs in each room, including in the corners of each stair; most of which appeared to have been there for quite some time. Of course, almost every place gets the odd bug/ spider but they were countless! Having arachnophobia myself, I had to ask my partner to check the bathroom & bedroom before I would enter there. What's more, I found a great amount of black mould on the ceiling of the shower in the upstairs bathroom, whilst the sinks in both bathrooms weren't easy to use...one was very small whilst the plug in the bottom bathroom appeared to be faulty as the water kept draining from the sink when my partner was trying to shave The wi-fi was another issue as it was very unusable during the majority of our stay & had to be reset on more than 3 occasions per day. Not ideal when attempting to research things to do in Lancaster, bus/travel routes or even simply wanting to relax in the evening & watch some Netflix. One final downer was the noise disturbance coming from the different sets of people who'd booked the lodge next door; first on Thursday night blasting music after 10pm whilst in the hot tub, doors banging on Saturday morning around 3am, including a 2nd lot of people who were also out in the garden talking loudly amongst themselves after 11pm. As the main bedroom overlooks the back of the lodge, I had to wait for things to quieten down before I could go to bed myself

Comfortable stay for family stay

Location was great for us. Kitchen reasonably equipped. House a good size.

Some of property needs maintenance/decoration, trim hanging off units and bathroom plug not working. Garden a work in progress. A cafetiere would be useful. Obsession with not wearing shoes in the house difficult.

No shower gel or shampoo in the downstairs bathroom. Matrass was too soft for me. Only one toiletpapier roll per bathroom. No complementary things like tea or coffee. Don’t shower with two people at the same time because you’ll be having super cold water.

It was cosy and comfortable. it was close to the town centre but walking distance from glorious countryside. A perfect location.

North Lodge is well-placed for accessing Lancaster's main attractions. Good house for a group stay.

The size and location of the property was great. The house was a nice mix of modern and old; well-maintained, with all necessary facilities. It was quiet at nights and close to beautiful scenery.

We could have done with more towels and pillows. The towels looked clean but smelt stale. There were only 2 complimentary teabags for 6 of us and the UHT milk sachets were expired. The mattress in the main bedroom wasn't very comfortable.

Nice spacious house close to town

The house is very spacious with nice big kitchen and living room...lots of room to move around, well equipped and the 2 bathrooms were a bonus but you need to bring your own toiletries. The house located in a quiet area but close to the town center - good if you have a car.

The bath towels left for us were still slightly damp and do not smell fresh. One of the single bed was not made ready. Wifi was not strong - signal kept dropping. Upstairs water pressure not the greatest.

Upgrade to the available #2 lodge meant a good review. Poor value for money.

1 North Lodge not serviced. Host was contacted, apologised & upgraded us to 2 North Lodge which was available and far superior and better value for money. Kitchen facilites great! Newly fitted out property which is presented well. Lots of different rooms and space would suit large group.

Poor Wi-Fi strength which needs boosting. Very misleading listing - interior photos do not show #1 & #2 as separate properties. Listing suggestive of hot tub included, which is only clarified once you've booked! No response either from either of 2 company names given. Rear outdoor areas are very poor - needing weeding, a good tidy and cleaning of the outside of the property. #1 outdoor furniture was very poor - damp, dirty, stained cushions and rotting wood. So disappointing to arrive to an unserviced & disappointing property - thankfully #2 was available.

Lovely house

The house is in a great location, very quiet and is spotlessly clean. We would definitely choose to stay here again. It is easy to walk into the city centre and also easy to find a more rural walk for the dog by the canal.

The kitchen needs more crockery and supplies such as kitchen roll, foil and bin liners and the house would benefit from having an iron and ironing board to iron out clothes creased from travelling.

We really liked the property, just a couple of things, there was a very musty smell in bottom of house very strong in back room, there was also a bread roll obviously from previous people in back of cupboard which was all mouldy, cleaner must have missed it.

Lovely house but a few things not quite up to the standard I would expect for the price.

Location for us was very good, and generally the house was well furnished. It was all finished very tastefully in muted tones of grey, very modern.

On arrival there were 2 boxes of assorted rubbish near the entrance of the property, that smelled like rotting food, one of which had a used panty liner in it, you had to walk past this to get to the front door, which was not a very good first impression. I did inform the owners who said that the gardeners had collected it from the surrounding small wooded area of the property that week and the cleaners were due to take it away on their next visit, but the cleaners were there the day we arrived and the rubbish looked like it had been there for some time. The property had a washer/dryer in the kitchen, but no iron or ironing board, no dishwasher and no hairdryer. Considering the property sleeps a potential of 5 guests there were only 2 tall glass tumblers but 8 short glasses. The sink in the kitchen developed a leak which left water on the lower 2 shelves, which we did inform the owners of.

Ok but missing items disappointing

Really lovely house, pleasantly decorated with modern kitchen and bathrooms, great showers in both. Comfy beds too.

Disappointed to find no dishwasher or ironing facilities as description had them both listed. We booked for 5 adults but seating in dining room only suitable for 4, we used plastic chairs from the garden. Very limited kitchen utensils, no corkscrew and only 4 dinner plates, 3 side plates, 4 bowls and 3 mugs which was a problem as there were 5 of us. Contacted owner who informed us that the adjoining property had probably got our pots as a group had rented out both houses. She suggested that we went and asked but we didn’t really feel comfortable intruding as it was getting late. Despite the lack of crockery we did enjoy our visit and the property is lovely, just needs someone to check that there is enough seating and plates etc for the number of guests staying. Welcome pack was a bit rubbish too.
