Definitely not as good as advertised!

On the upside, the place is cute and cosy. Great location, just a few minutes walking from the gondola and from the main street which is packed with restaurants and pubs. •The owner tried to accommodate us, was replying to us really fast.

•The owner doesn't provide anything in the apartment. When we arrived, there weren't any basic things like toilet paper, soap, shower gel, shampoo, dish washing liquid, bin bags. When asked, the owner said it is a self catered apartment, that we need to buy our own things and that she only provides a starter kit( which we received only after we asked) that included only 2 toilet papers and the tiniest toiletries containers for our 9 days stay. •The place doesn't have proper heating. There were only 2 plug in electric radiators - one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The bathroom had no heating, so using it was very unpleasant. • The hot water in the bathroom comes from a boiler. Once the water is finished it takes a few hours to fill up again. So you need to be quick in the shower to make sure you leave some hot water for the next person. • The whole apartment needs to be properly disinfected. Definitely the 9.5 cleanliness on booking.com is not accurate. There was hair and toothpaste on the tiles in the bedroom, the floor wasn't properly clean, some of the pans/ plates were greasy, some cutlery still had food on them. • After a few days, we realized there were some sort of bed bugs/ insects biting us. Our skin was itchy, full of bites. We told the owner and asked her to have our sheets changed and provide us with an insect spray. She was actually helpful, sending her assistant to change our bed sheets. The spray never arrived. I am writing this long review, as I wish I would have known all these details before booking this place. When choosing a place to stay, I look for location but also cleanliness and comfort. The owner could reevaluate the things she should offer with the apartment- to keep up with the rest of world- especially with the price she charges for the stay; we paid 805€ for 9 days which is definitely not cheap, especially for Bulgaria. Overall the place needs some love, proper maintenance and cleaning.

•On the downside, the owner doesn't provide anything in the apartment. When we arrived, there weren't any basic things like toilet paper, soap, shower gel, shampoo, dishwashing liquid, bin bags. When asked, the owner said it is a self catered apartment, that we need to buy our own things and that she only provides a starter kit( which we received only after we asked) that included only 2 toilet papers and the tiniest toiletries containers for our 9 days stay. She also mentioned they don't provide these basics due to liability issues such as allergies and people's personal preferences; so I am guessing all hotels and other airbnb/ apartment owners providing these things have got it all wrong then?! •Also the place doesn't have proper heating. There were only 2 plug in electric radiators - one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The bathroom had no heating, so using it was very unpleasant. When we left the apartment we felt like we needed to unplug them, as it can be a fire hazard to live them plugged in, and when we came back from skiing, obviously the apartment was freezing. There was another radiator in the bedroom, but its remote control wasn't working. We asked the owner for another heater, she said she can't provide more than 3, even though we did mention and her assistant seemed to know that one of them is not working. The owner mentioned that the third heater had a thermostat and that was programmed to turn off when the temperature in the flat was a certain temperature; this is inaccurate, as we tried to turn it on in a freezing room with no success, its remote control simply didn't work, probably needing batteries. • The hot water in the bathroom comes from a boiler. Once the water is finished it takes a few hours to fill up again. So you need to be quick in the shower to make sure you leave some hot water for the next person or they might finish their shower with freezing cold water.

well equipped and lovingly furnished - makes you feel at home immediately. only a few hundred meters from the gondola, with everything you need in walking distance, right in the centre of Bansko.

Exceptional

This was my 5th time in Bansko and the “Gondola Flat” was, by far, the best flat I have stayed in. As an interior designer, I appreciated the bright colors, use of space, and attention to decorative details. The apartment was clean, cozy, and well equipped. “Five Points” restaurant in the lobby is convenient and is probably on of my favorite restaurants in Bansko - they even delivered our breakfast to our flat. The landlords were friendly and helpful. I will be booking the “Gondola Flat” next year.
