The Mansion

It was a really nice layout and so many options to keep us engaged. As we went with a couple of families, it was perfect for the adults to have fun downstairs and the kids to have fun upstairs. We also really like the fact that there were two kitchens as it was quite convenient and there were more than enough pots, pans and utensils we could use. All the attractions were close by if commuting by car.

Unfortunately, although everything seemed to be clean, many of us experienced severe allergies from the dust in some rooms, this led to our sleep being disturbed and quite unpleasant. Another thing was the linen, I know that they had said that it’s quite usual for the linen to not be provided in this area but I think that at least some linen would’ve boosted the stay much more. Along with this, the barbecue did not have a proper flame which was a bit of a bummer because we weren’t able to use it.

The 6 bedrooms were great, and accommodated each family well. The 4 bathrooms were very useful too, with our number of people.

The property could have been cleaner. There was hair in the kitchen drawers, and the main bathroom did not have the facility to turn on the over head shower. Just had to use the hand shower. There was also a lack of glasses for a group of our size. We also asked for a late check out, but was refused as the cleaners were going to “deep clean “ We left the property on time but stayed outside saying good bye, for a while and no cleaners arrived. We stayed at another location in Cowes for the Australia Day long week end, and were offered early arrival and late departure without even being asked.

Great house for a few families, nice to have two kitchens and living areas when using the whole house. The house has great additions for kids - toys, puzzles, board games, two high chairs, games room in garage and portacot. The spa was clean and worked well once we worked out the heating control.

The house needed more cutlery and glasses - for a large group we were struggling to find enough each day to use for meals. The cleanliness was fine but there was a bit of dust everywhere and fingermarks on the windows.

The cleanliness. The upstairs couches in between the cushions were full of debris and food scraps and we had to vacuum them. The downstairs outdoor furniture was covered in animal hair. Around the upstairs fridge was dirty The upstairs dishwasher didn't work (as per other reviews) but we found by switching off at the wall and on again it worked but had to do this every time. This was a six bedroom house but only had a tiny barbecue. We were celebrating a birthday but found only six champagne flutes. There were ten of us! The downstairs oven temp does not keep accurate temperature. The upstairs vacuum cleaner was full so had to empty it first and after ten minutes it packed up. We couldn't get it to start. The upstairs bedroom siding door needs maintenance. The right hand door has to be dragged open and closed Note to future guests: bring your own colander. There isn't one. We found an item of women's clothing behind a bedside cabinet obviously from a previous guest and an inflated balloon under the upstairs couch.
