Bayonne en plein cœur Centre Historique 2 chambres

Sebastian our host was wonderful. 10/10 for his kindness, patience for our late arrival and enthusiasm for his guests. However the apartment wasn't without its flaws, and my comments are directed at the owners. The location is amazing, and the building has clearly been thoughtfully renovated with the common areas being very well looked after. Inside its spacious. The windows have been updated and there is some nice touches such as the art work. Its nice to stay in an older building and the small street is very characterful and it felt safe. So many wonderful shops and restaurants nearby - Bayonne is truly a lovely place to visit in the summer when the town is animated. Very friendly people about.

The furnishings are very basic. The couch is not particularly comfortable and the furniture shows signs of age/use. Wobbly dining table. It felt rather like student accommodation which doesn't correspond to the price. Dishwasher does not clean well, which is why some cutlery was perhaps left a bit dirty by previous guests. Kettle doesn't stop boiling. Our biggest problem by far was the fact that there was only one plug in fan which was a bit cheap. We moved it to the bedroom but as it was too short it wasn't effective, it works on a timer so you have to keep getting up! and it was extremely noisy. Surely the owners can put even a semi-decent quality fan in the bedroom? They cost €20. No salt and pepper shakers or cooking oil - not everyone is staying a week and coming with a car; only providing a couple of aged looking sachets left by previous guests is a bit of an insult. No shower mat and only the rain shower attachment works, and at a bit of a funny angle to wash yourself. Half a toilet roll provided for 3 days. If you are 4 persons, value for money is OK, otherwise, sadly not.
