About this villa rental
Sea and mountain Views from each of three terraces capture the very essence of Crete; the comings and goings of the occasional ferry boat, hilltops capped by sparkling white villages and mountains rising dreamily in the distance. A totally modern Villa, Afrati has been constructed and decorated using the best of Cretan tradition, with gleaming wood beamed ceilings and wood furnishings. A few individual villas scatter the hillside on which the Villa is built, from which privacy is maintained behind tree lined, stone walls.

1 km uphill from the sandy sweep of pretty https://www.freelancevillas.com/almyrida-villas/, with its tavernas almost on the sand itself, the village of Plaka, has a mini market and some very good tavernas whose tables and chairs spill out onto the square, bringing it to life in the evenings. Villa Afrati is 1km wandering distance from this square. For a change of beach scene, the small resort of Kalyves and Georgioupolis are within easy driving distance. Chania Venetian Harbour is 25 kms away and Rethymnon 40 kms both towns worth a visit day or night.

Kitchen Area - Wooden fronted fitted cupboards, double sink, electric hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and espresso maker (Tassimo brand capsules).
Twin Bedroom, en suite shower room - 2 single beds, French doors to covered pool view terrace and window with sea views. Air con unit.
First Floor
Double Bedroom, en suite shower room - 1 double bed, window with sea view, French doors to sea view terrace, (shared with twin bedroom). Air con unit.
Twin Bedroom, en suite shower room - 2 single beds, French doors to sea view balcony (shared with double bedroom),window with sea view & window with mountain view. Air con unit.
A 7th person (child) can be accommodated on a simple folding bed, suitable for a child up to c. 12 years old.
Housekeeping
Your Villa will be prepared for you on arrival with fresh bath and hand towels and all beds made up.
For stays of 7 nights or more - house towels will be changed every 3 - 4 days.
For stays of 14 nights or more - bed linen will be changed every 7 days.
Pool/beach towels - one per person for the duration of your stay.
Parking - There is space for parking next to the Villa, inside the gated entrance.

We love everything about this villa: it’s a perfect size, location and accommodation. Lovely garden and pool, plenty of helpful info and everyone is so nice and accommodating.
We couldn’t get the coffee machine to work, may be worth checking if it needs descaling

We spent 12 nights at Villa Afrati having also stayed there last year and loved it. We really like the location, the property’s layout and the pool. It’s very handy for shops, the local cafe, fabulous local beaches and for exploring other parts of the island.
Some increased screening between Afrati and Zara would be good to give more privacy. Also more glasses would be useful so that when the dishwasher is on there are enough for drinks in the meantime.

Absolutely loved this house with its comfortable bedrooms, super well maintained pool and gardens, and lovely view. It is well positioned close to Plaka and Almyrida, where there are good shops and tavernas, with more shops including a bigger Synka supermarket and very good butchers in Kalyves. Car hire worked well, as always, and Diane and Sylvia dealt with a couple of queries promptly. Housekeeping was immaculate and, although we never saw anyone come to clean the pool, it was always beautifully kept.
There was one disappointment, however, and that was that, although the house was described as well screened from neighbouring properties, the mature conifer hedge between Villas Afrati and Zara had been cut down and replaced with a woven fence, which did not provide privacy (possibly affecting Zara more than Afrati) and removed any shade from the comfy seating area overlooking the pool. A new hedge has been planted but it is obviously going to be a while before it can provide the privacy and shelter that was there before. We fully accept that hedges get diseases and are not permanent but we would have appreciated being warned and think that additional parasols should be supplied by the comfortable seating and on the dining terrace above the pool, particularly as the parasols by the sun loungers are not that easy to move. Having said all of that, we loved the house and had a wonderful holiday there.

Villa Afrati & Freelance Villas once again hit all that we needed, thank you. Our second stay at this wonderful villa and it proved a very good decision to return. Very comfy, great space, great location and lovely views. The pool and outside space is also a big hit. We loved our 2 weeks here recently and next time it might have to be for 3 weeks !! Thanks once again and we highly recommend both Villa Afrati & Freelance Holidays. Yamas.
Not a great deal really but there could be a bit more outdoor furniture. Maybe some more ice cube trays but we managed !! Can't think of anything else really so well done all.
