Cozy, authentic, and friendly—great vibes with a few quirks.

The host was super lovely, and everything was clean and well taken care of. Breakfast was very Mexican—think meat, beans, tortillas, and some fruit. The water pressure was solid, and there was plenty of hot water. WiFi worked great too. Only downside was a dog across the street that barked a lot, so sleeping wasn’t the best. My room was right next to the road, though—other rooms might be quieter. Also, there’s a pretty steep hill from the main road up to the place, which I wasn’t a fan of. The neighborhood felt a bit rustic, but it had some nice spots—a great little taco place nearby and a burger joint around the corner that’s worth checking out. ⸻ Let me know if you want it even more relaxed or with a different vibe.

We had full use of a kitchen and drinking water provided. Nice outdoor seating area. There are a few little shops nearby and some family run restaurants. It is an uphill walk from the main road, but definitly worth it. Our favorite place we have stayed in Mexico.

Sweet host and very comfortable room!

Lovely rooms with very comfortable beds and great bathroom. The owner is very kind and helpful. The place is a bit up the hill but she can help you with good priced scooter. Some nice restaurants and shops down the road. We also met some really cool people and had some nice evenings. Hopefully we come again one day!

Very comfortable stay

The rooms were good sized, and importantly had aircon, and ceiling fans. I enjoyed the access to a well-stocked kitchen. Also our host was incredible, she had great food recommendations and helped us sort out taxis and collectivos.

As other reviews say, the accommodation is up the top of a very big hill, but very accessible with collectivos and taxis.

Our stay was great

The staff are fantastic. Regina is exceptionally helpful and will go out of her way to assist you. We left some items in Mexico City and Regina assisted in getting them sent to us. The property is always clean, coffee available every morning and water always available. The layout was great, easy and safe access and lovely outdoor garden area.

Clean, safe, great wifi, and very nice host.

Excellent house in a quiet little neighborhood up the hill from the beach. The host is a very caring and attentive person, and the cleaning people are as well. The cleaners are there everyday making sure the house is spotless. The air conditioning really helps on the hots days and nights, I was grateful to have it.

Exceptional place to stay

This may be the most spotless place we've ever stayed. They clean the rooms and change the sheets every couple of days. Regina, the owner, couldn't be nicer. She went far above and beyond what was necessary. My husband had the flu, and she picked some herbs from her garden to make him a tea that fights inflammation. She also made some food for me, since I didn't want to leave him to go out. The room design was very carefully thought out and had everything we needed for comfort and convenience. The place is quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend it to those who like to stay somewhere that feels like home.

It was at the top of a hill and about a 10-15 minute walk from the beach. it wouldn't be so bad, except that it's terribly hot and humid and a long sweltering walk at the end of the day. But once we were there, it was more than worth it. The shower was always warm and ready, and the air-condioner and fan cooled the room.

Meet interesting people in a home away from home

Great place a little away from the hustle and bustle of the beaches and the very touristy areas. But yet close enough to the beaches - maybe a 10 min walk(if at all) Or you can take a bus (collectivo) which brings you either into town or to the beaches (12 Pesos!) The lady (Regina) who is running the place is amazing! She goes above and beyond to cater to your need. Water and coffee is free. There is a kitchen so you can prepare your own meals. Small stores are close by. Or there is the odd street vendor who sells tacos. The rooms are spacious with a private bathroom. You have the options of a fan or a AC. Very clean! Small garden to have breakfast or just to hang out. Very quiet at night

Nothing comes to mind, just be aware if you want to be in the thick of the touristy areas and party this is not your place. But if you want to be away from that but yet close enough I can't think of a better place. Muchas gracias Regina por todo!

Excellent Casa Lomas del Marinero

The place was spotless, the bed was super comfy and Regina was always helpful if we needed anything. The location was good but you had to be healthy to climb the steep street twice a day to return home. However, a 50 pesos taxi is very affordable. The shared kitchen allowed us an opportunity to meet travellers from all over the world. It was a delightful one month stay.

The barking neighbourhood dogs were annoying from time to time. Bring ear plugs.

Affordable ans comfortable guest house

The vibe the host provided. She was so helpful and relaxed. They were very clean. The kitchen was very communal. The rooms air conditioning and fan were perfect!!

Great hosts, terrific property!

Regis is a great host. Super helpful. We used WhatsApp to translate my questions and her answers. Great property with shared kitchen, purified water readily available, great AC, strong WiFi. Clean rooms. A hammock was included in the room which was great! The hill does get a bit easier each time you climb it!

The property is in a rural(-ish) neighborhood on top of a hill. Takes about 10 mins to walk to the beach, but don’t underestimate that hill on the way back up especially in the heat and humidity! There are a few family run stores on the way up and a collection does run into Lomas. My taxi had a hard time finding it when I arrived. Taxi from town will run 50 pesos.

Nice property with outdoor seating/ dining area and shared kitchen. Comfortable beds and good air conditioning. Host and employee are very friendly and helpful. Host offered free coffee in the morning. Internet worked fine.

Location: it's on a hill. We took taxis and public transportation (a block from the hotel and very cheap). There are no TV's in the rooms although internet was good

Comfortable, clean and cozy

i love everything about being here. Book 3 nights to begin, but the day we arrived we fell in love with the place and booked 5 more nights here. The owner is the sweetest lady and makes you feel very welcome. Here comes a man everyday and cleans everything. your room, the kitchen, the shared area. The standard is in top! when I’m coming back to Puerto Escondido, I’m definitely going to stay here again.

Beautiful house with large, cool rooms.

Wonderful host, Trajina, so helpful and kind. Beautiful house, room was spotless and good size, with deep mattress and excellent en suite bathroom with hot/cold shower as required. Good fan, air conditioning, clean white towels. Use of kitchen and fridge very useful. Lovely cool patio garden and able to wash a few clothes by hand and dry on roof terrace.

Some may find location difficult if not mobile as it is up quite a steep, short hill but very nice and calm away from busy sea front. Cheap taxis available if necessary but we walked and enjoyed it. Lots to see on the way and no problem for us and we are not young!

the location is too far away, first days the taxi driver did not find it and dropped me out in the middle of now where, I had to struggle with stray dogs which was verry scary. nowbody speaks english. the check in was therefore chaotic. no appartments available but simple rooms with private bathroom. a shared kitchen is available. no washing machine although it has been stated in the description of my booking. I did not appreciate receiving messages in the middle of the night asking me to turn off the air condition ?!?! the place might be nice if you speak spanish and you come by car or scooter otherwise I do not recommend!

Extremely lovely, kind host. Exceptionally clean property, the cleaner was always at work, was very friendly, and left the place spotless. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking meals. The air conditioning was great and a very comfortable bed.

Slightly noisy neighbourhood due to dogs and chickens, but was expected so not too much of a bother.

The hostess is so very helpful and accommodating. she went out of her way to allow us to extend our stay again and again. The accommodations are immaculate! We were able to walk down to the Zicatela beach each morning as it is only a 10 minute walk downhill. Great restaurants and shopping just a walk away. Taxis back at the end of the day!

Easily one of the best places in town! Regina and Angel are super nice, the beds were very comfy and we loved the kitchen and the table in front of the house. You might want to rent a scooter but thats anyways super nice to have in PE for exploring all the beaches etc. Local and for mexican standards very quite neighborhood with very affordable scooter rental service, lavanderia, juice shops etc nearby. Hopefully we can come back one day!

Regiña was the best host- so welcoming and accommodating, and this was by far the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. also the WiFi was very fast, which was important to my partner and I who were working remotely (and on many zoom calls) throughout the day.

the dogs outside could get pretty loud at night, and there were not really any markets, stores, or cafes nearby. but this wasn’t a big inconvenience! honestly it’s hard to think of dislikes bc this place is really great.

It is a bit far from most of the interesting spots (la punta, mid Zicatela and carrizalillo), and up a hill. To get to the colectivo you have to either take an extra van or walk about 10 minutes. It can get noisy with the many dogs and chickens that are around the neighborhood, which can be annoying at night.

Wonderful Accommodation in Rural Puerto!

Regina was one of the most thoughtful, caring, and dedicated hosts I've ever encountered! If you're a seasoned traveller, this is the perfect place to stay. Immaculately clean accommodation, extraordinarily comfortable beds, and very secure building. They have a very high standard of care and attention to detail here, which was so appreciated. It felt like a home away from home. This is in a rural, Mexican neighbourhood approximately a 10-12 minute walk away from the highway where you can catch collectivos and cabs to Centro or Zicatela (only a few stops away in either direction). I recommend this to anyone who has travelled Mexico before. A true gem in rural PE! Earplugs are suggested (I would suggest those in most neighbourhoods in Escondido).

An excellent base to explore the area independently

it was set off a lovely courtyard, they offered complimentary water and the lady who runs it is welcoming, friendly and helpful. I loved having a hammock in my bedroom!

The location is quite residential and a little off the beaten path, the area nearby has some small local stores selling snacks and drinks but there are no restaurants or deliveries in that area
