Cosy, Coastal Retreat with a Large Garden

Great location, gardens, sitooterie, and views. Spacious, with different rooms to gather together, or get away from each other. Renovated and updated with a pleasing balance of old stone, vintage, and modern comforts. Really comfortable beds, and impressive kitchen table! It helped that we were lucky with the autumn weather but central heating and wood burner were great in the evenings. Close to Wigtown Book Festival, coastal walks, and the Gavin Maxwell otter. (Minor crisis with the water was solved immediately by James.)

Detailed directions to the road end and up the track need updating as everyone missed it! (Maybe a sign at the end too?). Isolated location not clear from the property description; not clear that there isn't an actual 4th bedroom, but the living room and conservatory had sofas which was fine for a couple of nights when we'd found some bedding. A few spare towels would have been useful.

Stunning location and lovely house + garden. Extraordinarily lucky with end-of-Sept sunshine & warmth. James (the owner) very easy to get hold of.

Don't expect a kitchen with lots of equipment for cooking - could have done with mixing bowls, salad spinner, whisk etc
