A lovely cottage that could be a great cottage!

The cottage was in a lovely village and the short drive into town wasn't an issue. The rooms were of a good size and were well equipped with all we needed, the oils and condiments for cooking were a nice touch. The board games and jigsaw were handy, we did the jigsaw and found it to be complete thankfully. The book with information about the local area was handy and we did use some of this during our stay.

The downsides of this property are that the bathroom is downstairs so a long walk in the night if you need the loo. Was also a little on the cool side, and its not like we went in winter. The kitchen is a one person kitchen really due to its size but is well stocked with crockery and utensils. The rear yard was smaller than what the pictures had made it look, it could have done with a good sweep out and jet wash. The real downside for me was the cleanliness of the cottage. We had to wash some plates, glasses, and cutlery before using them as they were dirty. The coffee table in the lounge had left over cereal under it and a toy car from a previous guest. One of the throws on the settee also had dog hair on it. A real shame as this cottage has everything going for it, just would benefit from a deep clean and the routine cleaning being of a higher standard.

Perfect little house in a perfect little village!

The property is beautiful. I was away for work and was out all day walking the hills (i'm an ecologist) and it was really nice to come back to such a well kept house. The welcome gifts of wine, biscuits and milk, along with the provision of teabags and coffee was a really nice touch and much appreciated. It was excellently situated in a lovely little village with the National Park a stones throw away, with the bigger town of Alnwick, and the coast beyond that, just a short drive away. Would highly recommend for someone wanting to get away from it all.

The only slight niggle i had was that the wifi is not the strongest. I know this a Northumberland-wide problem, so it is not a slight on the host or the accommodation. It was fine for the telly and for facebook on my phone etc. but i needed to download maps onto a tablet for work and i had to leave it overnight.

We had an excellent three days of sightseeing with the beautiful Lavender Cottage as our base.

Love to Stay Again

Loved this cottage. It was spotlessly clean, great size for three and a large dog - two bedrooms really large for a cottage. Place very well kept and equiped. Location great. Within easy travel distance of Alnwick, coastal spots such as Holy Island and Cheviot Hills. In fact lots to do in the area.

Glanton is a small village with few facilities although didn't bother us. Just plan ahead for groceries. Ganton has a post office with basic supplies though. Has a pub but not open every day. Bathroom/toilet on the ground floor next to the kitchen but not really a problem to us. No hesitation in recommending and would very happily stay again.

Lovely stay and very comfortable, affordable cottage

Very pleasant, nicely decorated cottage - my wife and I stayed with our sons for a wedding nearby. The cottage was very comfortable and clean with a little pub opposite. It's a very quiet area. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we ever find ourselves in the area.

For us twin beds would have worked better in the second bedroom. Ideally the bathroom on the first floor would have been good instead of downstairs by the kitchen - other than this, everything was spot on.

A nice quite location in a very interesting and attractive part of the UK.

Bedrooms were upstairs and bathroom / toilets were downstairs. Not ideal in the middle of the night!! There were also a few minor faults with the cottage which we described in a separate note we left for the owner.
