About this resort
This gated elegant desert hacienda is truly a "one of a kind" luxury estate. Located on Anza Borrego State Park in Indian Head Ranch. This 5,500 sq. ft. adobe home with additional detached 600 sq. ft. guest casita is a place of peace, natural beauty and simplistic luxury. Astonishing desert views surround you as you relax with friends or family for a rejuvenating respite from the outside world. Also, perfect for a romantic time away for those who seek privacy, luxury and a resort style getaway with room to run. Situated on 30 acres and surrounded by park lands, enjoy the serenity this peaceful retreat. The hacienda's meticulous design gently embraces the harmony of the Sonoran Desert lifestyle.
The gated Estate borders Anza Borrego Desert State Park at the lower portion of Coyote Canyon and is situated on the original 1775 route of Juan Bautista de Anza between Sonora Mexico and his final destination, San Francisco.
The Desert Hacienda was constructed in 1992 and designed by architect Richard Grenfell for Dennis Avery, heir to the Avery Dennison Corporation. Dennis Avery was a philanthropist and responsible for many charitable projects in Borrego Springs, including the land purchase for and the commissioning of over 130 large metal sculptures throughout the Borrego Springs area.
The estate has been featured in many publications including Dwell Magazine, San Diego Home & Garden, Rue Magazine, San Diego Magazine and featured on the retailer Anthropologie website and Catalog 2020 and 2021 Spring/Summer.
The Hacienda has also been a temporary home to A-List Celebrities during feature film shoots in the area.
SERENITY CLAUSE: The Hacienda is not suitable for over eight (6) guests at anytime during your stay, exceptions by owner approval only. We cannot accommodate events, parties, etc. which can effect the neighbors right to peaceful enjoyment. Music and general noise must be kept to a level that cannot be heard by area residents. Sound travels extremely far in a quiet desert environment. By requesting a booking, you agree to be respectful of these terms.

This place was more beautiful in person. We happen to arrive at night, which I don’t recommend bc it is completely dark. Thank goodness for the house manager who was so helpful when I called him to say we were lost.
It was a very windy weekend so the internet was not really working. However, the host was very apologetic and offered us a discount on our next stay!
The trampoline was fun and the kitchen was unbelievable stocked ! It has everything you need! We will definitely be back.

Property was better then the pictures. Kitchen was the most fully loaded kitchen I have been in, and have stayed at over 20 vrbos. Just bring your food. Although, had excellent dinner at Casa Del Zorro. Very easy to work with owners and responded quickly to any issues. A couple of bikes at property for some peaceful riding in area. Property is remote, but we liked the privacy.

My business team had an amazing time as this property. The place was more beautiful in person. The hosts/owners were exceptionally responsive, clear and accommodating throughout the booking process (especially since we had to change our booking dates a couple of times). They were thoughtful and gracious as well.
We would definitely stay here again! Thank you Dean and Melissa for creating such a lovely stay!
