Very convenient in the centre of Ruffec, was able to get quick reply on any issues and was made to feel welcome by the gracious hosts.

We arrived during a heatwave and the room was very hot, could have done with some extra fans.

The location of this accommodation is in the centre of Ruffec with a public car park right outside where we were able to park for free. We were met by Sheila who was very welcoming and interesting as a host and who explained that we could use the kitchenette downstairs for storing foodstuffs and eating if we wished. A dedicated set of crockery and cutlery was set aside for our particular part of the accommodation. I guess this would be useful for anyone looking to self-cater and I understood the intention of the host was to encourage people to meet and mix while there. The suite was up a flight of fairly steep wooden stairs, typical of properties of that age. Our room/s had a double and a single bed a separate loo, a shower cubicle (the door was a bit temperamental and the floor and steps to/from it a little slippery) and a small sink. Personally, I am not a fan of having to leave the toilet to wash your hands - it would have been nicer to have had the shower, loo and sink in one space perhaps. The decor was a little tired but the bed was comfortable enough. There was a hospitality tray near the front of the suite of rooms which was appreciated - with a kettle, glasses, cups, etc. Overall, it was perfectly ok for an overnighter in the area at the budget end of the spectrum.

Information about what to do with the keys on departure, given the host doesn't live on site, would have been useful. We realised we had no idea what to do with them so left the key hanging on the inside of the room door when we left.
