The hot tub and pool were very nice, big home and great for people with kids

It wasn't walking distance to town and there is no uber in the area and the taxis don't pick you up on time

"I booked this place last minute, after 11pm, with a fast turnaround — the kind of booking where experience tells you to lower expectations. Late check-ins, rushed cleans, missing details… all the usual risks. None of that happened here. Even though I didn’t have my children with me on this trip, I write every review as if I do — because parents notice things others don’t. Flow. Safety. Ease. Emotional tone. Whether a space works when life is actually happening in it. And this home passed that test immediately. What struck me first was how intelligently versatile the space is. This place is beautifully set up for couples — calm, uncluttered, and quietly grown-up. You would never know children’s games were present, because they’re integrated rather than imposed. Nothing feels childish, chaotic, or out of place. It’s also perfectly suited to a business getaway: space to think clearly, work comfortably, and decompress without distraction. And at the same time, it would make an exceptional girls’ retreat — warm, stylish, restorative, and grounding without trying to perform luxury. That balance is rare. For families, the thoughtfulness runs deeper. There are books that encourage curiosity rather than noise. Artwork that invites conversation. A layout that allows children to exist naturally within the space rather than being confined to a corner. It’s a home that doesn’t just allow children — it respects them. The house itself is beautifully appointed and decorated with work by local artists, which gives it authenticity and a strong sense of community. It feels lived in, loved, and intentionally shared. Not styled for a listing, not stripped of personality — but offered with generosity and care. Every detail communicates that the host understands people. How families move. How adults rest. How spaces influence behaviour and emotion. The kitchen works because it’s been used. The flow makes sense because it’s been lived in.

The house is well laid out on one level (except the back garden) and has lots of natural light from different aspects. A lot of thought has been put into the decor and some of the paintings are for sale. The bed was comfy and the bedding was clean. There is a large dining table and plenty of seating in the large open plan living area and there are throws for the cold evenings. The kitchen was well equipped and the parking was ample. The pantry has an automatic light and had several essentials in it. You can access the kitchen from the garage. There is a generous fridge freezer and plenty of crockery. The hot tub was lovely and warm even on cold days and there were separate towels for this. The pool area is glassed off making it harder for kids to go in by themselves. There is a washing machine and tumble drier in a large utility space near the toilet. The house is about 2km out of town in a quiet neighbourhood with a small park at the end of the road. There is a large garden with things for children to do.

We were really disappointed that we were not advised the fire was out of action especially as that was one of the attractions of the house for the colder months. Reverse air con is available but does not have the same ambience and was very necessary during our stay as the large open plan space got cold in the evenings. The panel heaters in the bedroom worked okay but it was cold as soon as you stepped out of the bedroom to go to the bathroom. There is no heating in the bathroom and the towels remained damp, a heated towel rail would have made all the difference. There is drying space outside but no airer inside which would have been helpful. Whilst there is plenty of seating the sofas are quite low and suitable for anyone with less mobility and the areas where they once joined look dirty and worn which is a bit off putting. The WiFi details sent in email were also out of date and not written in the house folder. Luckily they were on the bottom of the router. Like most places we have stayed there could have been hooks on doors to hang things. The bedside light in the room we slept in was a standard lamp with the on off high up near the shade which is really impractical as we had to get out of bed to turn it off. With the panel heater and lamp there were no spare plugs in the bedroom meaning we had to charge phones etc in other rooms. This is a really nice property let down by a few practicalities that could make it much more comfortable for guests particularly in the cooler months.
