Great place close to Old Town with lovely staff

Location and Staff

AC was not working and it was too hot

Very good location in Kaleiçi, Center of Antalya, close to Hadrian gate, tram station, central street with a lot of supermarkets and restaurants. It’s clean and comfortable and breakfast is provided in the morning at their patio)

The staff were very welcoming and kind. We arrived early but we were given tea and could leave luggage whilst we went for a wander and the room was prepared. On our return the room wasn't quite ready but we could wait in the communal pretty courtyard. Our room was number 4 (104 on the key tab) which was on the ground floor, directly leading to the communal courtyard/ upper seating terrace and kitchen. The room was large with a very comfortable large double bed and ensuite bathroom. We were told to make ourselves at home, the basic kitchen was for guests use and there was always tea available. The communal courtyard was a very nice seating area and mid-adternoon onwards was nicely shaded.Staff were working hard, during our 2 night stay, to get everything ready for high season Location wise, it was excellent, close to the tram stop (ismetpasa) if heading in from the airport or elsewhere and to the old town. Excellent cheap restaurants on the main street behind the hotel, plus a cheap place to buy wine/beer if that's on your radar.

Unfortunately there were many things that have reduced the overall score...to be honest, I have probably rated it higher than I should but this is based on room 4 (104 on key tab). First of all, despite the windows and door being opened before entrance, the room smells of damp and mould..I cleaned a lot of the mould from the showroom myself with soap and toilet paper, what it really needs is a really good scrub. There is a single bed room as you enter room 4 (included) that clearly suffers from rising damp and accounts for much of the smell. Whilst we were there, the staff and their friends used the communal terrace as their own and this included late into the night, indeed, they were doing some DIY (hammering until midnight) and drinking/loudly talking( until 3am) ....it was very noisy and being on the ground floor you can hear everything and can't open windows Despite all this, we quite liked the place and would stay again but would definitely request a room on the upper floors. Sadly room 4 offers no privacy or peace as it's entrance and windows are directly on to the communal space for the whole hotel. After check out we received a message from the owner thanking us for our stay (nice touch), however, he asked us to rate it at a 10, which , despite it's many good points, sadly we cannot. However, this is purely based on room 4. I'm fairly certain that other rooms would deserve a higher rating.
