Our bright and welcoming vacation rental awaits you in Husum, the hometown of Theodor Storm. It is located on the first floor of an apartment building newly constructed in 2019 to KFW55 standards and is situated right near downtown.
The apartment features 2 bedrooms, a spacious open-concept living/dining area with a fully equipped built-in kitchen, a large bathroom with a rain shower, a guest restroom, and a storage room with a washer-dryer. The apartment also includes an underground parking space.
We purchased this apartment at the beginning of the year and have been furnishing it over the past few months, so it is now ready to welcome guests. All rooms—with the exception of the guest restroom—feature large windows and natural light. In addition, the apartment is completely barrier-free; the doors are 80 cm wide, and the flooring is real wood parquet throughout, except in the bathrooms.
You enter the apartment through a bright hallway; on the left are a coat closet, the guest restroom, and the bathroom, while on the right are the two bedrooms and the storage room. The master bedroom features a 180x200 cm box-spring bed; the furnishings are complemented by ample storage space in the closet, a large mirror, and a 32-inch smart TV. The second bedroom has a bed measuring 80x200 cm, which can be extended to a 160x200 cm double bed if needed.
The heart of the apartment is the bright, light-filled living/dining area, which features two large sliding patio doors. The fully equipped built-in kitchen includes an induction cooktop with an integrated range hood, an oven, a microwave, a refrigerator with a separate freezer, and a dishwasher. The amenities are rounded out by a coffee pod machine, a kettle, a toaster, a SodaStream machine with glass carafes, and a hand mixer. You’ll also have access to a raclette machine and an electric tabletop grill. Take a seat at the counter or at the large dining table. After a refreshing day in the fresh North Sea air, relax on the leather sofa, read a book, or enjoy the 55-inch smart TV with a built-in DVD player. The Yamaha sound system features Alexa voice control, which can be turned off.
Enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening on the small, east-facing balcony. The view looks out over greenery and one of Husum’s oldest buildings, the “Gasthaus zum Ritter St. Jürgen,” whose garden is home to the grave of the town’s most famous son. The green space adjacent to the apartment also features a public playground.
The apartment is ideally located for exploring the city of Husum—quiet yet central. You can get fresh rolls in the morning at the bakery around the corner, and an organic grocery store is also right in the neighborhood. It’s only about a 5-minute walk to the vibrant heart of Husum, the market square with the Tine Fountain, and the harbor with its shops and restaurants is right next to it.
Attractions such as the Theodor Storm House, the North Sea Museum, the Christmas House, and the Maritime Museum are also within walking distance. Extensive shopping trips are possible at the newly opened Theo shopping center as well as in the many small and larger stores in the city center.
Husum also serves as a starting point for exploring the Wadden Sea Nature Park and the offshore islands and Hallig islands; Sylt is about a 90-minute train ride away. The train station is located about 800 m from the vacation rental and is a 10-minute walk away.
When the weather is nice, you can go swimming at Dockkoog (about 4 km away) or the Schobüll outdoor pool (about 5.5 km away); when the weather is bad, head to the indoor pool (1 km away).
Please note: In May, June, July, August, September, and October, check-in is only on Saturdays, and the minimum rental period is 7 (or 14 or 21) nights!!
