The house, the view, the garden, the BBQ, the atmosphere... Everything!!! We can feel this is a real house for holidays and well thought for it.

Honestly? Nothing.

Nice, spacious house with garden, in a very quiet area, you can literally hear the cows and goats some kilometers away. The owner has strategically planted plants and bushes in front of windows to enhance privacy, but the neighboring houses are constructed in a way that the people there cant look into this house. If you haven't been to this place before and don't speak Japanese it can be challenging to find the place the first time, but the owner, despite limited English, was very helpful in guiding us to the house. As a landmark, focus on going towards Fusaki Beach Resort. Depending on which side you come form, stay on the main road and either pass Fusaki Beach Resort or just before the resort follow the sign to Little Mermaid Hotel. . Ishigaki is tropical and an insect paradise. In the house, the owner provides a binder in Japanese and English telling you about the various insects as well as house gecko (we had a small one giving us company). Even in relatively "cold" temperatures in January there are a lot of mosquitoes and flies, especially at night and when its less windy. Make sure to keep the windows closed and/or the mosquito screen on. We had a small "shock" moment, I accidentally stepped on something in the bedroom in the dark and when I switched on the light I saw a 10cm long centipede dead on the floor. Luckily I wore shoes, I believe their bite can be quite painful. A car for this place is an absolute must, especially if you don't speak Japanese. If you do you can probably call a taxi. The house has everything you need for a self-catering stay, including a fully equipped kitchen, a wide variety of sauces and seasonings in the fridge, washing machine (and liquids) and dryer, hair dryer, shampoos and shower gels, cleaning products, vacuum cleaner (incl. a Roomba), adapters, ironing board and (important) vinegar to counter box jellyfish stings.

A dishwasher would make the kitchen really perfect. The house is not too well insulated, but 2 mobile heaters as well as Split A/C units are provided and will keep you warm or cool, depending on the outside temperature.
