Camp Acacia - Private Safari Lodge with Pool near Amakhala

Wonderful views, good facilities, and incredibly helpful and friendly staff!

Our host and driver was great and really made us feel welcome. He was so informative and made us feel at ease. I loved the privacy. Great for families that want their own space, there were three different chalets that slept two in each room. So capable of accommodating a total of 6 guests. Great for family getaways. Or a small corporate team.

It is self-catering, but you also cannot drive yourself to the venue. You park at the office and take a game drive to the venue. Completely understandable as it is a nature reserve. But a bit unsettling as you are pretty much stuck with what you brought with you. At least the Kitchen is fully stocked with equipment and they provide firewood etc. So you just need to bring everything you will eat/drink and toiletries.

Beautiful location on a hillside overlooking the bush and plains where so many animals roamed freely. The rooms were comfortable and clean if a little rustic. There are many cosy sitting places outside plus BBQ and fire pit facilities. Edwin was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. He drove us in and out on arrival and departure and also for a safari. He was very attentive and responsive and nothing was too much trouble. There are no other guests staying at the same time so you have the entire place to yourself. Nibbles the kudu did come to visit and she’s very friendly. You need to bring in everything you need because you are literally out in the middle of the bush.

The description is of a three bedroom chalet but in fact there are three separate bedrooms in small thatched bungalows plus a separate kitchen and separate lounge. So things are quite spread out. The WiFi worked intermittently so be prepared to be off grid, which could be a good thing.
