Luxury Alpine Chalet & Sauna Pinja - Velika Planina - I FEEL ALPS

It is truly a luxury chalet on top of a mountain with no civilization around. If you love nature and want to spend a couple of days walking around the mountains it is the best!

I would have loved the communication to be better. We chose it for 6 nights as our home base for visiting around Slovenia and we were limited because of the cable car access to the cabin. 18h during the week and 19h during the weekend. Plus caring the luggage for 10 15 minutes up the mountain wasn’t that fun 😅.

Chalet praticamente nuovo con tutto il necessario. Accogliente e in perfetto stile montano. Bellissimo d'estate, non oso immaginare d'inverno. 15 min dalla funivia e seggiovia, mucche fuori dalla porta e tutto il silenzio che serve di notte. Semplicemente perfetto

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Planina Vanika 40. The house is beautifully finished and truly state of the art, with smart home features throughout. The kitchen is more than fully equipped, and there is even a cellar stocked with wine, beer, water, bread, spreads and more — enough to get through the first day without having to do groceries immediately. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the rooms are surprisingly spacious for a mountain cabin. There was also a baby cot available, which was not mentioned in the description but was a lovely bonus. The WiFi worked very well too. And then there is the view: simply breathtaking. It is so peaceful and quiet, with only the occasional company of cows and the gentle sound of the bells around their necks. The sauna was absolutely lovely as well. The house does seem to be designed with an active mountain lifestyle in mind. The built-in hardwood benches are beautifully finished and make perfect sense for the space and setting, but they are quite firm. So if you are dreaming of sinking into a soft sofa for a long movie night, this may not be quite that kind of place. The owner was very quick to respond and extremely helpful whenever we had a question. We drove up by car, which took about an hour. The first time was a bit nerve-racking for someone who is not used to mountain roads, and we were very glad to have a 4x4 — you really do need one. Driving around is not really allowed, so we kept our car movements to a minimum: just arriving and leaving. It may be a more expensive stay, but you truly get so much in return. A 10 out of 10, without a doubt. We had such a wonderful time here and would highly recommend it.

This was mainly due to our own misunderstanding, as we had not read the access information carefully enough. We did not realise that the house is actually intended to be reached by cable car. For a one-week holiday with a toddler and quite a lot of luggage, that was not really practical for us, so we decided to drive up by car instead. The drive took about an hour each way, which added quite a bit of travel time whenever we needed to go somewhere. The peace, quiet and beauty of the location absolutely made up for it, but it is definitely something to take into account when planning your stay — especially with young children or a lot of luggage.
