Henn na Hotel Premier Kyoto Gojo Karasuma -Formerly Watermark Hotel Kyoto-

The hotel is in a very good and quiet location, only one stop from Kyoto Station, but we usually where walking till there, as it is 1 km distance. It is a self check in system which is very easy, also you can store there the luggage before and after the check in. The rooms are clean and big, they provide coffee and tea in the room. There is a 7Eleven around the corner and many small restaurants.

The hotel was okay overall, but it felt rather impersonal. Both check-in and check-out are automated, and there was no staff around to ask questions or help when needed. Sometimes you really do appreciate having an actual person to speak to. The hotel is modern, with interesting Japanese-style decor that seems designed mainly for tourists. The room was quite spacious by Japanese standards. However, the building is on a busy road, and traffic noise was very noticeable even on a high floor, especially when it rained.

Although it is not that far from the centre, the immediate area feels a bit like the middle of nowhere. Expect a 25–30-minute walk to get to places of interest. Having a metro station right next door is definitely a plus. Other downsides were the limited housekeeping—the room is only cleaned on the fourth day, after three nights—and the lack of bottled water or coffee.
