Location was amazing, right on the lake. We visited the national and state parks which were incredibly easy to get to and when we needed a break the house was very comfortable.

What a beautyful place. As we stopped last year at marquette park on our way back home to Germany we thought we have to stay in this aera one time. So we found that place with in the perfect time. As it was after vacation time and we had the feeling of having a private beach. Dunes and water was nicer too. Very relaxing. Rex is a very good host. You feel like bei at home.
Notes from my sister which I agree 100%::
My sister said: I booked this house in Gary ( she is not from here) and I just paused and said aha…..But we were pleasantly surprised to find that this is a lovely area. It is right by Indiana Dunes National Park. We came the week after Labor Day and it was perfect. No crowds. The house is right by the beach. You can sit on the dunes or have a fire in the backyard. There is also a BBQ grill. Miller beach and Lake Michigan were so relaxing.
We had the second floor master bedroom which had an amazing view of the lake and at night is was perfect to sleep to the sound of the waves. The house also has a downstairs master and a kids bedroom that has 3 beds in it. It also has a pullout sofa bed.
Sunsets and sunrises are breath taking.
All amenities are only a short drive away. There was a street fair in portage when we were there. We also stopped in an old schoolhouse that was converted to consignment shops and held lots of treasures.
Chicago is only an hour away. The south shoreline was surprisingly easy to navigate and it was a pleasant trip. I recommend a Chicago river tour.
This is a great townhouse within a few feet from the beach and is close to lots of trails and when we were there it felt like a private beach. This is not Gary that you have heard about.

The home itself was absolutely beautiful. Comfortable beds. Excellent showers with great water pressure and hot water. Large tubs. Multiple bathrooms. Full kitchen. Smart tv’s with access to all your favorite apps. Easy access to beach over a private dune path or public path right next door. Beautiful views of beach, sunrise, and sunset.
Climbing all the stairs 😂 Worth it for the views on each level though. Top floor is a bit difficult to temperature control.

The house was amazing, and the view was exceptional! Rex was awesome and very personable, with phone calls before arrival and after departure. The home was very clean, we had everything we needed, and the beach was in our backyard!!
The only thing I wasn't expecting was the town. There wasn't a lot to do, it was a little run down. And that's likely due to the time of year we visited. I imagine in the summer things are much more "popping" more restaurants are open, people around, plus the beach is right in the backyard so we'd likely never leave our home in the Summer!
