About this apartment rental
Beautiful view of Jenkins Creek. Less than 200 yards from The Dataw Clubhouse which includes an outdoor and indoor pool, croquet, tennis, golf and bocce. Located on the tidal waterway between Charleston and Hilton Head. Relaxation awaits as you cross over the bridge to Dataw Island. Sleeping accommodations include queen; two twins and sleeper sofa. Use of Community Dock, fitness center with pool, 2 golf courses designed by Tom Fazio and Arthur Hills (pay to play), 8 tennis courts (pay to play); Full Service Marina available. Pet Friendly for 25 lbs. or less (deposit required); Linens & Towels Provided. No smoking/parties, children allowed; handicap inaccessible.
Please be aware that this is a privately owned island and in reference to the impending "right to carry arms law", (August 15, 2021) Dataw Island has implemented the following policy:
Members & Residents,
On August 15th the state’s open carry law will become effective. This means that in the State of South Carolina those who hold a concealed weapons permit will be allowed to carry a gun openly or concealed in public areas.
Both Boards have been researching this issue and have decided to establish rules prohibiting members, residents and guests from openly carrying a weapon on DIC and DIOA property; as we are a private community and club.
We understand citizens have a constitutional right to bear arms but hope that those who are permitted to carry a weapon will respect those around them by not openly displaying their weapon(s).
So you are aware, employees and contractors are prohibited from bringing weapons, whether concealed or not, on the island.

Great condo that had everything. Awesome location to everything. Neat and clean. We were down looking at properties to purchase and this one was the nicest we saw while we were there

Great place but renters should know beforehand that there are no curtains or blinds on the first floor windows. Also the lower bedroom bathtub is very slippery, which for the elderly might be an issue. But pros far outweigh the cons on this otherwise perfect dwelling with respect to comfort, cleanliness, and location. Would definitely rent again.

The checkin process was not great. We had to wait an hour at the gate because our name wasn’t listed. Finally the host returned our calls, texts and messages to get us onto the island. After a long drive this was stressful. The host did offer to buy us a bottle of wine at one of the island restraints which was nice.
The condo was not what we expected as there was dirt, food, and hair on the floors. I immediately swept the floor and carpet and had multiple dirt piles to sweep up. The furniture also had hair and crumbs on it.
The bathrooms were pretty clean but the upstairs one we found was leaking. We noticed when we heard dripping noises to find an overflowing bucket placed below the sink. The upstairs shower also wasn’t draining properly which resulted in standing in water.
The views from the condo were lovely and we enjoyed the back patio. The island pool was also a nice amenity. We also liked being between town and the beach.
Overall the stay was ok, but the lack of cleaning made it tough to enjoy.
