Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Collingwood

The hotel was clean, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The location was also excellent, as it’s close to Sunset Point Beach Park. We went there to watch the sunset, and it was absolutely beautiful. The breakfast was also very good, with a great variety of options to choose from. We also appreciated the coffee and tea station, where guests can enjoy complimentary coffee and tea at any time of the day. We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful experience.

The only downside was that some of the staff did not seem very friendly or welcoming and often looked unhappy. In the hospitality industry, a warm smile and a positive attitude can make a big difference in a guest’s experience.

We stay for 2 nights, the staff are all so friendly, the moment you check in. Daniela is exceptional who works at the breakfast area in the morning, greeting and assisting guests with big smile 😀👍👍👍

Breakfast was OK. There was a nice variety of options for food including cereals, yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausages and more which was nice. I believe the scrambled eggs were made from powdered eggs so were uniformly left on the plates but cold boiled eggs were an option and the bacon was tasty. Good overall - just avoid the scrambled eggs.

Asked for late check out on booking and received an email from Booking.com that this was granted. Mentioned the late check out request when we checked in at 11PM and was told to check with staff in the morning - we intended to but forgot. Despite our DO Not Disturb sign housekeeping hammered loudly on the door promptly at 11AM (standard check out time). We apologized and mentioned the above and asked for some leeway. Front desk called almost immediately and was extremely aggressive in NOT accommodating our request or permitting anything other than immediate expulsion. Feeling extremely unwelcome we did not argue and were out promptly. While checking out we tried to point out the disconnect and showed our email message confirming the late check out with the front desk. Rather than trying to be pleasant and at least pretend to listen, she reiterated several times that the error was not the Holiday Inn's (?!). She wouldn't move past assigning blame and offered no apologies, commiseration or pleasantries. We had a nice day at nearby Blue Mountain despite the wholly negative influence of the Holiday Inn staff. Separately, had to spend about an hour trying to get the TV to work; said it accommodates a service that allows "casting". Was forced to call into the call centre in the US who were helpful but they had to refresh the tv and call me back twice. In the end, it was too late by the time we fixed. Not a big deal but ...
