About this house rental
Set in the beautiful, historic, UNESCO protected mountain range of Sintra, Quinta Matalva is a private villas located in a secluded valley with pine forest backdrops and views of the sea. The Quinta is accessed down an off-road track that leads to only 4 Quintas ensuring seclusion and calm.
Quinta Matalva has three bedrooms in the main house. An adjacent cottage has a further two bedrooms for a larger group and be found under Matalva Main House and Cottage listing. The main house has a wide terrace which is ideal for barbecues, drinks and outside dining. Through a gate from this terrace are steps down to a private swimming pool with another terrace and sun lounges. From the main house, walk through a colonnade to the cottage which has a separate kitchen, sitting room and terrace with a dining area, ideal for anyone in the group requiring privacy such as a family with young children or grandparents. From the entire property there are superb views of the historic botanic gardens of Monserrate and terraces of oranges, lemons and fig trees.
For larger parties, the neighbouring house, Quinta Sao Bento, with 5 bedrooms and a pool can sometimes be made available.
The property is located at the heart of the Sintra Serra. The historic town of Sintra is 20 minutes away by car, due to a one way system, or a 35 minute walk). A local bus stops at the top of our Camino/lane and local taxis are also available.
The property is accessed via a narrow and winding off-road track that leads to only a few Quintas ensuring seclusion and calm. Guests need to have their own transport to access restaurants and Sintra sites. Please note as SIntra is in the hills, the roads can be windy and at times, narrow.

We stayed for 9 days. The home was perfect. It was very quiet and has a beautiful view, just like the photos. Ana was a delight! I'm so glad we chose this home, and we wish we could have stayed longer.

The property manager Diogo was so sweet and welcoming and had a huge bowl of fruit, bread, wine and coffee for us at self check in.
Of all our travels we have never stayed at such a safe, tranquil, peaceful property.
Not a sound but birds and the sweet smell of lemon blossoms and jasmine.
The house is warm, sunny and opens up to the most incredible valley view of Sintra to the far sea.
It will make you cry as will Portugal.
Thank you Jonathan,Ana and Diogo we will be back for a longer stay one day!

The host of this home are lovely as is the home.
A magical location close to all the sites in Sintra but also convenient to the beach. Highly recommend.

All as advertised. So nice just sitting on the patio watching the sunset. If you’re lucky, you’ll meet Scott ( the dog). 😀 Diogo and Ana are so nice and very helpful. Couldn’t be better.
