About this house rental

Perfect for a family-friendly vacation (summer or winter), this cozy, updated (2020) home has everything you need. Located on the wide, clean Dallas Bay channel with 200 ft. lake front yard and beach/swimming area at the tip of the peninsula, panoramic views, 2 boat docks, jet ski lift, outdoor patio dining and a fire pit to be enjoyed with friends in the evenings. Easy access to Dallas and Witmer Lakes (all sport), as well as Westler, Messick and Hackenburg Lakes to fish and explore. Bring your own boat or rent one from nearby marina.

This open, airy home sleeps 8 with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths (master en-suite), high-end linens, central heating/ac (new in 2021) upscale fully-equipped, stainless steel kitchen, full sized washer and dryer and a bonus fridge/freezer in the garage.
Extras include a paddle boat, 2 kayaks, lake floats, water/sand toys, WIFI, Roku televisions, videos, books, board games, gas grill, chaise lounges, life jackets, and boat gas cans.
No smoking/vaping on premises, inside or out

My spouse, 3yo, 1yo and I had a great stay! The cottage is very cute and comfortable, the patio and beach area are nice and the neighborhood was great for walks as well. Julia went above and beyond to make everything great. We'd love to stay again.

Very nice house. Provides togetherness due to open concept and privacy with bedrooms on opposite sides. Back yard is private. And little beach was great for kids and adults. Sandy bottom next to beach! Beach toys. And life jacket variety. kayaks were fun. Needed some assistance from owners and they promptly responded! Great time. Would recommend.

This property couldn't have been better for our family! With kids ages 3 to 12, there was plenty to enjoy on and around the water. The beach was very sandy and large enough for everyone, and the kayaks were a hit. The location is ideal - on a peninsula with a large yard wrapping around so you can hardly see your nextdoor neighbors, on a channel away from fast boats but plenty wide enough to swim, kayak, and relax. And the house was immaculate inside - clean, comfortable, and just as pictured. We hope to return!

The living space in this house is fabulous! There were only 4 of us but it would have been very comfortable for more. The view is nice. We went in the fall so didn’t have any play time on the lake. The house was very clean and the owner was very helpful and responsive to my questions. Kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances we needed. The beds were a little to firm for us so a topper would have helped. Overall a 5+ and would stay here again!

The house was very clean and in a nice neighbor with friendly neighbors. My only complaint is there was no sand on the beach. Having 3 grandchildren 5 and under, I would not have rented had I known. I emailed the owner 2 times about recycling trash but got no response. Overall we had a great time. I would have given 5 stars if there was a sandy beach.

We had a wonderful stay! The home is very beautiful, the beds are comfy, the kitchen has everything you need along with a grill outside (which we used almost every night!). The weather didn't cooperate so we took some trips into Shipshewana to the flea market and a play, it was lots of fun!

Our stay was very nice! The property though small, is clean, in a safe area, and packed with the essentials. It was easy to rent a boat from a local company and the sand area with the kids was wonderful. There is not much around to do so if you enjoy eating out or even being able to pop in to a store, this location is not for you. Julia was quick and informative of all our needs!

Though we didn't venture onto the water, due to the time of year, the home served us well as a home base for exploring the Amish communities in this area. We didn't realize that much of LaGrange County shuts down on Sundays, though we probably should have figured that.

The house was nice and the view was great. We stayed 3 nights and all went well. One complaint that was rectified by the owner , there were no paper goods. But after contacting the owner she quickly fixed the problem. Only dings that I had were that the top electrical plugs in the bunk bed room did not work well and should probably be looked at by a professional. The other thing was the entry door swing, it was hard getting things in and out. However, with that, we would stay here again. Thanks Julia for letting use your lake house

This was our second time here. We love the house and private back yard. We had 4 adults and 4 children and had plenty of room. The children ranged in age from 2-15 and all had a great time. We fished, kayaked, paddle boated, cooked out, had a fire in the firepit, played games and had a great time! The back covered patio is wonderful! We did rent a pontoon this time and loved boating around the lake. We already booked a stay for next year! Thanks for a wonderful time!

I spent a week with my Grandchildren and their parents. The little ones (5 & 7) spent hours playing in the water. My teenage Grandson loved kayaking and fishing. It is a very peaceful setting and we loved it! The house has a nice layout and was well stocked with the necessities. The paddle boat was a nice add on, also. Thank you so much!

The property is as advertised. The furniture is very comfortable and everything was very clean. We enjoyed all the extras available for the lake - kayaks, swim noodles, extra chairs. We loved the open area kitchen/dining/living room so that all of the family could be together. The area is nice, quiet and relaxing. The owner was very quick to respond to any questions we had.

This property was perfect for our family. The house is open and feels larger than it is. The view of the channel and the use of the docks and beach amenities are perfect for families. The kids and adults had a great time fishing, swimming, kayaking (provided), and being together. I would highly recommend this home for families. We didn’t have to worry about jet skis and ski boats causing waves. The hosts provided many amenities we have not had in other rentals that really made our stay fun and enjoyable. The garage with the door that opens to the lake made it super easy to take things out to the beach and keep wet, sandy feet out of the house. We used the fridge/freezer in garage for drinks and popsicles, the grill, covered table set, the fire pit, the docks for our boat, and the beach toys provided. They also provided games and puzzles for the kids. We would absolutely choose this home again over one directly on the lake. It was peaceful and fun for all. There were a few things I would have liked to have but are in no way deal breakers (I wish I would have mentioned to the host). I would have preferred to have blinds on the kitchen windows. I felt a little exposed because you can see the house next door from the main bedroom when the door is open. Also, a deterrent for geese and ducks would be nice. There was a lot of poo and we needed to clean it up so the kids could enjoy the beach. Our trip was more like a staycation, so we just drove home and picked up a rake and scooper. Again, it’s on the lake and you will have animals no matter what you do. We saw turtles, crawfish, ducks, geese, birds, and snakes. Please note that the snakes are harmless and will leave you alone if you leave them alone. Please do not let the wildlife keep you from this property. If you want a nice lake property, this one is amazing!! We appreciate the host sharing their home with us.

It is small, but doesn’t feel it because it’s so open and airy. You get a wonderful view of the lake all the time. The little beach area was perfect for our little granddaughters. My husband and daughter were even able to take the paddle boat out to the main lake, even though the water was still cold, as it’s early in the season. The cathedral ceiling adds a lot.

We can't thank Julia enough for our family vacation at her lakehouse! My in-law parents had not been on a true outing in 8 months, and Julia was incredibly accomodating throughout the rental process, from ensuring detailed cleanliness in the home on arrival to her outstanding communications, she was a great host. The lakehouse was equally as nice. In-law comments included "really nice; really relaxing; quiet area; enjoyed our family outing; absolutely clean - much cleaner than a previous rental we stayed in months ago". The property was well-appointed inside and out. They visited with their adult children and families at the property. Everyone especially enjoyed the paddleboat and kayaking. My father-in-law enjoyed sitting outside, peacefully reading his books. The property is on an inlet to Dallas Lake, so there were a few boats that would pass by, but all kept to the 5 MPH speed limits so the water activities were great for the 6 and 8 year-olds (with adult supervision). Our family members also enjoyed grilling out and relaxing at the firepit in the evenings. We highly recommend this property for a getaway and will definitely consider returning.
