About this house rental
On the first floor of the house, there are three guest rooms: 2 twin/double rooms with shared bathrooms—Malva and Pomelia—and 1 double room with an en suite bathroom—Calendula. On the first floor, there is a large living room to share with us and possibly other guests, although during the summer our “salotto” is the garden. Please be aware that you are coming to stay with us—you are not booking a private villa! But only 3 rooms with private bathrooms, an outdoor kitchen, and your stay includes breakfast and, of course, use of the shared areas of the property.in to the property, there are also 3 glamping tents with their own kitchen and bathroom, so there may be other guests during your stay with us.
The most beautiful features of the house are the 2 hectares of land surrounding it—it’s almost like having a private park—where you can go hiking every day and find a quiet spot all to yourself. There are 63 century-old olive trees, carob trees, various fruit trees, typical Mediterranean plants, and wild herbs.
The entire villa has been rebuilt on the foundations of a residence dating back to 1856, once used by monks of the Diocese of Noto, and a water cistern holding over 10,000 liters is still visible today.
From a secondary entrance to the villa, a rocky path leads down to the bottom of the valley, where there is an ancient well.
From the villa, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Iblei Mountains and the valley.
We moved into this house last April 2019, after spending seven years in Cambodia (where I also ran a B&B), and we’re working hard to improve this beautiful home and make our guests feel right at home.
If you’re also a cat lover, we have 5 sweet cats (4 from Cambodia and 1 Sicilian) and a friendly, quiet dog—all looking for new friends and lots of cuddles.
The villa is close enough to the main village—just a 5-minute drive—but far enough away to make you feel like you’re far from it all!
A 3x8-meter swimming pool is almost complete (June 2021). We have 3 rooms in the villa and 3 glamping tents on our property, each with its own facilities (kitchen, toilet, and shower).
