森のうた Morinouta Forest Stay in Nikko

I stayed here by myself for just a weekend. This place is a gem. The best part about it was the staff, who were all extremely kind and showed me true hospitality. I’m not an extrovert at all but I loved chatting with them. They gave me plenty of recommendations for what to do, helped me with the bus timetable, and were very friendly. Even for the day I didn’t order breakfast they packed me a little baggie and made sure I had plenty of water for my day. And when I was leaving they offered to drop me off at the train station! The food was also delicious and I’m so glad I decided to get breakfast and dinner. Dinner was 6 courses, so come hungry for sure. The room itself was roomy, comfortable, and very clean. There was no shower in the room, which wasn’t a big deal to me as they had 2 bathing rooms downstairs which were awesome. The location was also very good. It’s a quiet area with a bus stop right there and if you need snacks there’s also a convenience store by the bus stop. You will not regret choosing this inn.

No shower in room

The staff made our stay. They were so friendly and helpful it was wonderful. Even gave us bottles of water and snacks to take out for the day.

It was a little far from the station but there were taxis everywhere and a regular bus service. You can't take big suitcases on the bus to the hotel so needed a taxi on pick up and drop off days.

We took the half board option where the food was plentiful and so delicious (local ingredients the trout was fresh and the wagyu steak perfect!) The private Onsen was a super bonus (located together with the bathroom shower area outside the bedrooms on the ground floor). Private toilets with wash basins are located inside the bedroom with folding doors to separate. Location was very close to the bus stop and 15mts by bus to the Tobu Nikko station Rooms are clean and comfortable Hosts went over and beyond to accommodate our family’s food requirements, late dinner served as we arrived late from airport, and even offered to drop us off at the train station as we had big lugagges!
