Nikko Tokinoyuu

Nikko is not the cheapest holiday destination, with that we were reasonably happy with the price of this accommodation. The room was spacious and comfortable. The onsen was also good. The complimentary breakfast was rather symbolic ( while staying for two nights, the cups for coffee were given us for two people two nights at the start, while croissants/ simple small baking were given twice, on daily basis). I am not sure what is the reason why one has to guarantee to check into the hotel by or before 7 pm ( as there is the staff overnight), but that was the condition of ( not the cheapest, hence rather higher established class of ) this accommodation in Nikko. One drawback for tourists who ( like most of tourists) visit Nikko just for one night ( we stayed two nights there) is that the hotel is adamant not to help to store the bag after checking out ( and advises one to return to the train station 2 km away while the main sightseeing spots are in the other direction from the hotel ( main temples just at short walk distance, yet those cannot be visited with the luggage). The hotel is ample, and surely some provision to assist visitors with luggage to store for the day visits would be seen as good.

in case one would need to store some luggage, the issue of storage of luggage after check out would make this better place to stay

the staff was very friendly and helpful, the baths were clean and beautiful, and they even gave us free breakfast to eat on the last morning of our stay

the location is amazing, the room looks amazing, the view is amazing

if there was a cold jakoozi and souna it would have been fantastic

Very nice traditional stay. A minute walk from the famous bridge and the world heritage.

The hotel is completely closed in the middle of the day, and you can't get in to put your stuff. On checkout, they did not agree to keep my luggage while i hike in the area, since the hotel is closed during the day. They did not compromise on that event though i begged them to. I had to take a bus to the train station to keep my luggage at a locker and than take a bus back. Knowing that in advance, I would never have booked here. This ruined my day. The location, being close to the bridge as it is, is bad, if you need to take a bus to the train station anyway... Also the Onsen is very small.
