Opted for breakfast as per reviews and was not disappointed. Home-style cooking and great value. Very delicious. My one-night stay was short but very pleasant. Room had a nice view of the river, so did breakfast on the balcony. I arrived quite late with notice but the owners were accommodating and gave a very thorough briefing to get me comfortably settled in.

Everything was fantastic, the location, the room, the view, but mostly the family who received us. They were super welcoming and friendly. They made us feel right at home.
I liked everything.

The room was a nice Japanese-style room and had a stunning view over the river. We also love this area. The nature is very beautiful and offers both river valley and mountain hiking.
Nothing. The room met our expectations. Mind that the kitchen is simple, and is not made for cooking.

After some busy days in Tokyo it was so great to come here to relax!
It also is at a very good distance to walk up Mount Mitake from here which is definitely a must in it self.
The owners were the sweetest people and they also offered to serve breakfast if for a fee of 1000yen for two people, and I would say that it was very much worth it if you would like to experience traditional Japanese breakfast.
This is also very much a small town, and thigs close early around 4-6pm, they also do not have a konbini in the area but if you take the train to the next station there will be one very close to the train stop.
The owners will tell you the name and location if you ask.
Overall we had a great stay and would definitely like to come back the next time we are going abroad to Japan again.

The hosts were kind and accomodating. Their morning breakfast is wholesome and they sit you where you can view the river. The bedroom is a simple traditional Japanese room set with a scenic view of the river. Close to the train station for easy access. Gorgeous place away from busy central Tokyo.
The steps are narrow going down to the room so will need to pack light.

Amazing riverside views from traditional Japanese style room, friendly and kind hosts and kitty! Y10,00 for traditional breakfast. Room had kotatsu and extra bedding. Toilet had heated seat. Slept soundly to the sound of the babbling river.

Centrally located. Only a few minutes’ walk from Mitake Station. It’s just right beside the Tama River where you can hear the sounds of the flowing river. Can be quite loud if you are not used to it but if you close the doors, it’s ok. Sounds like rain. Tetsuji-San and Yoko-San kept the place very clean and although it was our first time sleeping on mattresses on tatami floor, we slept really well! There is a bathroom/toilet attached to the room so there is privacy. Bath towels not provided (but face towels are) but no issue as you can rent them for 100yen per pax). It was off peak season and we were the only guests staying at that time. The couple don’t speak much English but they were game to use technology (Google translate) to try and communicate with us. Kudos to their can-do attitude! They allowed us to keep our luggage earlier at the guesthouse before the check-in time of 3pm and also after check-out time of 10am the next day so that we could explore more of Okutama before heading back to Tokyo. They served us a wonderful Jap breakfast (1000yen per pax) at their balcony overlooking the rushing river which we enjoyed so much. Wish we had stayed for one more night. This is an experience which we would remember for a long time. Thank you Tetsuji and Yoko-San for your wonderful hosting! Hope to bring the rest of my family to stay at your guest house one day! God bless you!

Location was right next to the river. Very peaceful and perfect for some birdwatching. There was a mini fridge, kettle & microwave oven for us to use. There was a small bathtub to soak our aching muscles after a long hike (set it to at least 55°C and press “auto”. Bring your own bath salts). We stayed in a traditional Japanese room so we had to make up our own futon for sleep, but that wasn’t an issue. Pyjamas aren’t provided and you need to rent the large bath towels (but pretty cheap, just 100yen).
Convenience store was 2 train stops away at Kori so we made grocery runs there. Make sure to check train timings before you set out. That 7-11 has prepared food and snacks and simple toiletries. They do not sell medications like paracetamol or plasters though, so make sure to bring your own. Pillows are the bean/rice type but a little tiny and very low. Bring your own or fold a towel under if you need more support. There was a slight issue of mold in the room - a little on the shower door and maybe some parts of the ceiling (I’m assuming that because I could only smell it when I was standing up). That triggered my asthma a little but was easily fixed with a few puffs on my inhaler. It could be because of the weather there or because the owners are quite elderly, so they can’t possibly clean every area 100%. Understandable. It didn’t cause any issues for my husband who doesn’t have asthma. Oh and you need to be able to navigate some stairs to get to your room.

Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, and we managed to communicate across the language barrier. The location right next to the river was glorious, and our breakfast was excellent.
The website was slightly misleading - there were 3 residents on our floor, not just us. This wasn't a problem, it just wasn't what we expected.

I liked the breakfast overlooking the beautiful river! It was delicious and a great start to our hike the next day. The owners were very friendly and accommodating.

This is one of those cases where I feel I lack the words to express how beautiful of an experience this place was by itself. The greenery view from the room window, attentiveness of the hosts, the handmade food they serve, everything was heartwarming.
I wish i had stayed for longer, or found about this spot before

Everything was great there. My room on the 1st floor with traditional futon bed was not big, but comfortable. It looked exactly as on booking photos. The view and river sound from the balcony was amazing. The couple managing this hotel are so nice people, even though we speak different languages I felt so comfortable. They also serve breakfast for additional 1000 yen and it is delicious Japanese breakfast on green balcony with flowers and cats with mountain view. I was really pleased to stay there.

I stayed in a comfortable, spacious room with a beautiful view looking out onto the river. The space was quiet and peaceful (you can hear the river) and it felt very private. The hosts were both so friendly and accommodating, I felt at home straight away! Breakfast and dinner were delicious - this was my first time experiencing a traditional Japanese breakfast and I loved it! The dining room was cosy with lovely views of Mount Mitake. The location is also very convenient, it’s just a short walk from Mitake station, and there are bus stops nearby to take you up to the mountain.

Both the property and the owners were fantastic, and the overall experience was exceptional. It is rare to find accommodation like this in Ome that can be booked on a rolling basis - the little accommodation in the valley is normally set up for Japanese tourism i.e. one night stays. This place however was perfect. The room is very separate, below the main house and directly overlooking the river which provides a lovely soothing background sound. The room is comfortable and well lit, with a kotatsu heated table for colder weather.
The hosts were incredibly accommodating and happy to prepare vegetarian meals for my friend, to fit our schedule. They even accepted card payment for the food!
Nothing to complain about really. Just be aware there is only one convenience store in the entire valley, located a few stations to the west on the train line. The hosts also primarily speak Japanese, though they have google translate, so be prepared for a bit of miscommunication if you can't speak japanese.

It's described as 1st floor of a two storey building, but actually you go down two floors from the hosts' residence at street level to a room with a good view of the Tama River rapids.
Facilities were very good and perfectly clean, the hosts friendly and hospitable, substantial and delicious breakfast with many local ingredients.
I have often visited Mitake on day hike, but this is the first time I have stayed overnight. The old village is really quiet and atmospheric in the evenings.

The accommodation was just right beside a river and it is really calm and soothing to hear the sound of it. The hosts were really kind and friendly who prepared a scrumptious breakfast for us. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again!

The dinner was spectacular!!! A full course meal where I was introduced to many locally sourced vegetables that were in season, grilled fish from the local river, and homemade desserts! Truly something I'd suggest to anyone who is staying over at their place.
The room was astonishing!!! When I opening the door, I can see through the windows and see the river below me. The light shining into the traditional tatami room, bringing me inner peace as if I've walked into the tranquility of a old town in Japan.
The night was quiet with the sounds of the river flowing through. Sweeping me away for a good nights rest.
The breakfast was amazing!!! I was provided with homemade pickles, delicious eggs all the way from Hokkaido, miso soup using homemade miso and more. In summary, it was a plate made with locally sourced ingredients enhanced with specialties from other regions of Japan.
Once breakfast was done, I was given a serving a hot green tea, where I sipped through while enjoying the sound of the river right in front of me.
The food was made with a lot of attention and care, a perfect start for me to climb Mt Mitake!

It was already my 3rd time to visit Oyado Yaokyu in Mitake station. The owner couple was hospitable and kind as always, two cats were charming to observe. Breakfast (Japanese style) was so delicious and nutritious. They kindly considered and confirmed the food restriction that we might have such as being a vegetarian. The room was really clean and comfortable to stay. Kotatsu was nice to use while having a light dinner. Enough futon and blanket were arranged in case we might feel cold. I would like to visit here again to enjoy the beautiful nature in Okutama with kind people. Enjoying the falling leaves around Okutama river (Room is with a river view) were an additional point that I could appreciate.

It was my second time to visit Oyado Yaokyu in Okutama. The closest station is called Mitake. The owners are very kind and hospitable to meet any inquiries from guests. They have very cute and adorable cats. As I had to check out early, I could not have breakfast (which is optional to arrange with the owners directly) but I would recommend it to try. The place is right next to Okutama river and you can enjoy the view and beautiful sounds from nature.
I do not have anything.
