A rural idyll with communal pool – Casa Acuario

Pros: Pedro was the nicest host I've ever had. He was so loving and attentive. He offered me eggs from his own farm. He brought home-made, delicious cakes while I lay by the pool for a few hours All in all, everything was very, very good, the little house was super cute would come again and again

Pros: The space was lovely, beautifully done up. Lots of great artistic touches and a fantastic pool. Jose was a great host, super helpful and considerate. Even hand delivered homemade crème brûlée for dessert one night! Highly recommend! Cons: The house does require a car to access

First of all, our host and owner, Jose, did everything to make Casa Acuario our ideal holiday home. With a couple of exceptions, the villa has all that’s needed for two people to enjoy life in a lovely quiet area that’s just a short drive from Llucmajor (where there are lots of restaurants, supermarkets and petrol stations). The kitchen is well equipped, with gas cooker/hob, coffee machine, toaster, fridge/freezer, kettle and plenty of crockery, glasses, cookware, etc. The bathroom has good condition sanitary ware, and a brilliant shower. The living area has TV system and comfortable furniture, and is divided by a floor to ceiling panel from the bedroom area. All in all, a very nice bedsit really. However, one big drawback for us, is the fact that there is no aircon... and this is an absolute must during the hotter periods (we were there in early August). It is sooo uncomfortable at night !!! Added to this, the villa could do with door curtains on front and back doors to help keep the mozzies out... which brings me on to the worst aspect of the holiday for us. This is not something limited to our property, as I understand all of Mallorca is infested - but we had a dreadful time with DAYTIME mosquitoes. We were bitten from head to toe all week (as too was my Son who was in the adjacent Casa Gemini)... and as you can imagine, that ruined things for us somewhat. If the villa was a bit more mozzie proof, and there was some air conditioning, at least you could get away from them a little bit. On the plus side, Jose was a great host, often bringing us little titbits to enjoy - and he always ensured the pool (great pool by the way) was looked after every day. Also, he is as annoyed as we all are by this new “Ecotax” in certain parts of Spain - where you pay so much per day directly to the hotel or villa owner - this costing us an extra €32 for the 8 days we were there. As the title says... beautiful location, lovely owner, nice villa (but needs the aircon I’m afraid).
