When we arrived after the very cold weather here before Xmas, we literally had no heating in the cottage and the temperature didn’t move off 14 degrees for two days until I asked for someone to fix it. So, we then had about four of the ten heaters working for two weeks until everything failed again and we were left again with no heating. Again, I requested someone come to fix the problem and we then had some heaters working until we left. In addition, we had limited TV access because there’s a problem with the aerial on the roof. This problem was discovered four days after we arrived but had not been fixed when we left seventeen days later. There are also numerous cleaning issues e.g. the fridge and freezer badly need defrosting and cleaning - I could barely use the freezer because it was so ‘iced up’. Also, when I first went to use the dryer, the lint filter obviously hadn’t been cleaned for quite some time. It was disgusting. I suggest leaving a notice on it asking tenants to empty after each use. There was no toilet brush in the downstairs toilet and the one in the upstairs toilet is old and grubby . I appreciate that the cottage is old and difficult to clean, however, professional cleaners should be sent in to clean everything thoroughly every few weeks. The other problem is the shower over the bath tub which is almost impossible to use because it splashes no matter how carefully it’s used. There are signs about the shower water running downstairs and wetting the sofas but it was impossible to use the shower without some water escaping . I took to using the bath only and washing my hair in the kitchen sink. I’m sorry to complain about Rose Cottage like this because usually I have nothing but very positive comments re my VRBO rentals. However, I feel it’s necessary to warn other intending guests to beware of this property until some much needed repairs are carried out. I feel VRBO has a duty to make prospective clients aware of these problems before they undertake a rental. Lesleigh O’Keeffe

Historical crooked house

What a lovely town, with so much character. This house is perfectly situated in the town of Lavenham and so close to other quaint towns, including Cambridge. The house has loads of character including crooked walls, huge fireplace, outdoor patio. The home is well provisioned for a great stay. Would highly recommend 10 Restaurant for an evening out.
