La Luna del sur B&B

The views from the very small balcony are amazing and forgave any inadequacy. Pool area is amazing and very relaxing with the same stunning views. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

The description read that a kitchen was included in the room facilities but this is not the case. The kitchen is a shared one down two flights of stairs and can be used after breakfast around 10.30 onwards. It’s important guests are made aware. Other than that there a no facilities, tea or coffee in the room. The room is very small, no full length mirror or dressing table.

It was a great stay. The staff members were really helpfull and passionate about the area. They gave good recommendations. We made us of the pool which was great. Nice view! During our stay there were not so many guests, so we had the pool for ourselfes. The beds in the room were perfect as well. We can really recommend this B&B.

Nothing

There is nothing not to like about La Luna del Sur, with one significant exception noted below. Situated high above Granada, the views are magnificent and there is a local bus to the centro. Front man, Eder, who speaks excellent English, was very accommodating and friendly, including giving us the tip on how to get official-priced Alhambra tickets (they post some online every evening at about 2200). The room was very comfortable, as were their ample common areas. There is a modest, year round swimming pool, which is unusual since most are open only July/August. Their spacious, fully equipped kitchen is accessible to guests 24/7 except while their 7€/person paid breakfast is being served, 0900-1030. The non-buffet breakfast wasn't quite worth the price to us, but many guests took advantage of it. We loved the place. Rooms are only one short flight of steps below the street. Common areas are one floor lower. Their weekday rate is an outstanding value at 39€ for two (Wed, early March), Street parking is available right outside the door.

We liked it so much, we wanted to extend our stay by two nights, through Saturday morning. When I tried to book directly, Eder quoted the same 39€ for Thursday night and 91€ (!) for Friday. When I tried to book those nights on Booking, the price was a still high, 80€ for Friday. Adding to the confusion, Booking showed no availability for Friday, but did allow Thu/Fri 2-night booking. Apparently, there is some unstated 2-night minimum there. It turns out La Luna uses 3rd party software to handle reservations across multiple platforms. That software, AvaiBook, allows for dynamic pricing by monitoring overall area demand. Thus, different people can get different prices depending on who they are and exactly when they reserve. Higher weekend pricing is not unusual, although I have rarely encountered more than doubling the weekday rate, but I object to the potential for minute to minute changes. This may not bother you. At any rate, Eder claimed no flexibility on modifying the price. They just charge whatever AvaiBook spits out. We left after two nights, instead of 3.

Great location in the country - lovely views, pretty hotel, superb pool and grass surround. Rooms had a lovely little balcony.

Rooms simply NOT as advertised - No kitchenette, no kettle, no electric toaster, no kitchenware, no coffee machine. No accessibility to upper floors as the elevator is no longer in use. Lots of stairs to a single shared basement kitchen which is closed when you need it 8:30-10:30am: a clever ploy so you buy their breakfast!
