About this house rental
Maple Cottage has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6. This newly-renovated cottage located in the scenic Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina features a living room with an original stone fireplace (gas logs), central heating and air conditioning, and a fully equipped kitchen. You will enjoy morning coffee on the screened front porch, cocktails on the flagstone patio, and making S’mores in the backyard fire pit. A gas grill is available for a quick barbecue. The Cottage has lovely landscaping and ample space for parking. There is wifi available along with smart TVs and a DVD player. We have streaming capabilities on the smart TVs, if you have a personal streaming account and login information.
The master suite has a king bed, large closet space, a whirlpool bath and separate shower.
The second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has a full bed in the pull out couch. The second bathroom has a full-sized washer and dryer.
The kitchen has everything you will need to prepare family meals. It features electric appliances, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker.
The cottage is situated across the road from picturesque Mirror Lake. The locals enjoy feeding the ducks and fishing here. Fishing gear is available for guests. The area is also known for its many hiking trails, waterfalls, scenic drives, and gem mining.
The town of Highlands is still unspoiled by the commercialism of the other larger cities in north Georgia and western North Carolina. Main Street is a collection of unique specialty shops, galleries, and a variety of restaurants that suit any budget. The Recreation Center has an enclosed swimming pool and seasonal skating rink. The Bascom Center has outstanding art exhibitions throughout the year.

Location was great, very accessible to town. The cottage was cozy and we especially appreciated the gas fireplace and the lovely screened porch. The owners have taken pains to make sure their guests have everything they need. Everything was very clean and the kitchen well stocked. The beds were comfortable. We didn’t find the living room seating as comfy but we were only there for a long weekend, so it was fine for a short stay. All in all, an excellent experience.
