The Dorel SF

We enjoyed our 10 days here, it is a good set-up where you have your own bedroom and bathroom and communal kitchen, laundry and outside patio. The room was clean, the shower was great lots of hot water. The bed was reasonably comfortable although on the smaller size. Nob Hill has plenty of bars, restaurants. There is a Trader Joes for groceries close by. There is local transport 5 minutes walk away to get to the harbour area and other attractions. The staff were friendly and any questions I had were dealt with promptly.

Honestly such a great stay. The room was cozy and comfortable, check-in was smooth and easy, and the location is hard to beat. The California Street cable car runs right outside, you’re steps from Nob Hill and Chinatown, and there’s a Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods just a couple of blocks away. Plus a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need. The staff were also wonderful, and Erica went so far out of her way to help me with something after I’d already checked out, just out of pure kindness. That kind of care is hard to find. Would absolutely stay here again!

Location was fabulous, right on the cable car line. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and the instructions for entry and security great. The host was very responsive and helpful. Shower, toilet and sink great! Downstairs kitchen was very clean and well equipped. Guests were quiet! Life saver having the fan in there, it is humid upstairs even when not outside. Loads of towels. Trader Joes 2 min walk!

This is not a criticism, just an observation/suggestion. It can be quite noisy from the traffic outside, but obviously, it's no fault of the property, and I adjusted very quickly. Quiet at night. I'd personally would have loved a kettle in the bedroom for my tea, I'm English! As going up and down to the kitchen wasn't ideal. As the bed was a pull out sofa, comfy enough, I'm tall and had to sleep diagonally. It was no big deal, but as no headboard, the pillows kept falling out the back. A detachable headboard would have been great!

It's cheap (by SF standards). Good location: there's a public bike rack in front of the property, Trader Joe's and a Walgreens one block away. Staff is responsive via booking.com. Easy to get in and out. There's a reception where you can get things delivered. The shared kitchen is very spacious and includes all appliances and silverware.

The room is tiny. If you brought big suitcases, they'll occupy a fair bit of the space. Bed is actually a sofa bed. Mattress is soft, pillows too. If you like a studier mattress/pillows, this won't be for you. Room is very simple with a tiny desk that competes with the door to the fridge/microwave. You can't open the door to the fridge if you're using the desk. Weird placement. The blinds are white, so they don't block a lot of light. Bring your eye covers. The corner where the property is located is a meeting point for people with drug addiction. They'll hangout there, make a mess of the place, but they're harmless. This is not a one-off, many places around the city are like this, sadly.
