Op Oost Boutique hotel & Restaurant het Kook Atelier

My wife and I spent four magical days at Op Oost on Texel Island and could not have been happier with the experience. While the rooms at the hotel are simple, they are comfortable and clean, and the hotel itself is remarkably stylish in a spare kind of way. Located in the northeast corner of Texel, just above the picturesque village of Oosterend, perhaps the most beautiful of the island's seven little towns, Op Oost welcomes guests into a serene environment in which it is easy to unwind. The breakfast features gorgeous bread and crispy buttery croissants, as well as a wonderful selection of granolas, nuts, yogurts and fruits, and the coffee and tea are excellent. We splurged on the Michelin fine dining experience, a leisurely three-and-a-half culinary experience featuring a variety of exquisitely prepared dishes, including gorgeous oysters in beurre blanc and a memorable plate of famously tasty Texel lamb shank and neck prepared in two ways. We also greatly enjoyed going oystering on the local strand with chef Joram's spry, generous father. And the island itself is a fabulous pace to go biking and explore, one of the most beautiful places we have visited in the past several years.

The rooms might be bigger, and it would be nice to be able to open a window at night, but these are small complaints about what really is a fantastic boutique hotel.

What a glorious place! I only wish we could have stayed longer. The team are friendly and welcoming. The hotel is elegant and relaxing and really does feel Like home. It’s full of thoughtful little touches and the sense of light and space is beautiful. Breakfast is wonderful!

We were sorry that the hotel’s restaurant was closed when we visited despite it being a Tuesday but the team recommended a super alternative.

The location is incredible and we really enjoyed the oyster experience with Jan.

The rooms are very loud. We unfortunately didn’t have a restful sleep as we could hear people going to the bathroom next door and people walking around upstairs.
