The Anfield Rooms

I am sorry but I cannot recommend The Anfield Rooms as a place to stay. There are no staff on site, and since I booked through Agoda messages sent by the owner to *** did not come through. I went to three different places on the same street before I found someone who could hand me the keys. On entering we had to climb a thin and somewhat bad smelling stairway to our room which was on the top floor. It was difficult to carry cases up the stairs since the stairway is so thin. Our room was small with two bunk beds, both of which were noisy when one moved around on them. Our room was also warm and we found it impossible to open the windows. When we closed the blind in the evening it fell down off the roller as the glue that should hold it in place no longer does so. The shared bathroom was not at all fresh and has a towel that is to be shared by all guests which we found odd. The website shows a dining room in which breakfast is served. However we were unable to locate this dining room, leading us to doubt its existence.

I was not expecting much from the place but there were a lot of problems from the beginning. During check in I had to ask the shop next door for the keys but he didn’t give it to me and I had to stand there with my family because I didn’t know my room number although the keys had my name written on it (I received no message regarding my room no.). When I finally got I felt claustrophobic immediately, moreover, it was stinky as well. Other than that, the other people staying at the place were extremely noisy. It’s in close proximity to Anfield and that’s the only advantage. Wouldn’t recommend staying here. Pay a bit more and stay at a decent place.
