The villa has all the best from at least three points of view: - distance to the beaches - distance to the food stores/restaurants - as starting point for bike trips On Favignana a rental car is not a good choice, you better move around on bikes. Then the distances to beaches and shops are essential. The nearest beach is 400 m away but it's practically in the downtown, and I would not recommend it. There are good beaches on the southern shore, the couple of them just 2..2.5km away. These are Calamoni and Lido Burrone beaches. If you want a bit tougher ride you can go for Cala Grande and beyond, 5 to 6km. Anyway, even by regular mountain bike it's 15 to 25 min ride depending on your shape and eagerness. The nearest good supermarket is Deco, 800m. The villa is rather convenient, with good views from the roof terrace. You can both sunbath and have your meals up there. As almost a rule in Sicily they have gas-stove in the kitchen. The place is quiet unless they have a some Catholic celebration and crack fireworks and play brass music from 7pm through the midnight. There are a couple of places which you would want to visit: Castello di Santa Katerina and Tonnare museum. The former is 314mosl, so embrace for vigorous walk. The museum is one of the most authentic ones I've seen. It has two parts: battle of Egada artifacts (you would not see real Roman helmets or battle ship rams in any other museum), and the Tonnare with lots of exciting photos of catching 200kg tunas from 1950-s. When it comes to bikes, I would recommend renting regular mountain bike, not city bike or e-bike. A mountain bike is at least twice as cheap as e-bike, and it's better for you cardiovascular system:). The island is mostly flat, so e-bikes are for indolent only. Do not go for the nearest rental shop, Isidoro. They do have only upper-end carbon frame bikes. The cheapest are rentals near the marina, Noleggio Playa one of them. The bikes are decrepit but usable.

You should expect to communicate mostly in writing, since the English of the hosts is not very fluent. Nonetheless, both the host, Sergio, and the maintenance couple were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

La casa è molto bella e moderna, in ottima posizione e con una splendida terrazza vista mare. Sergio è stato molto accogliente e disponibile.

De locatie was top, net uit de drukte van het dorp maar toch op loopafstand van de gezelligheid. Het huis was super comfortabel met als absolute toppers het prachtige dakterras (volledig en mooi ingericht) en de buiten douche, hier hebben we elke dag gebruik van gemaakt. Aanbeveling voor de fiets huur was ook een goeie tip. We hebben ons heel veilig gevoeld op deze plek. Setgio was een perfecte host.. hij kwam ons halen bij de boot en bracht ons ook weer weg bij vertrek. Als we ergens een vraag over hadden reageerde Setgio heel snel. Toen wij een paar keuken spullen misten stond er de volgende dag een tasje bij de poort met alles erin, wat een geweldige service!
