The host (An) met us on arrival and made us feel extremely welcome, helping us to know what there was to do and where to eat in the local area. There was also a lovely welcome gift which was appreciated. It's a lovely cottage and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay in Devon.

Disappointed and shocked by the host’s behaviour.
We never stayed because the host cancelled our booking after I politely asked if it might be possible to bring our dog due to a last-minute issue with our dog sitter. I made it clear that if it wasn’t allowed, we would make other arrangements. Instead of a calm response, I was met with hostility and aggressive texts. I even suggested she call me to clarify, but the conversation became heated. She later texted to say she considered us “high risk” and didn’t trust us not to bring the dog—completely uncalled for.
Booking.com confirmed she had the right to cancel and issue a refund (which she did), but if we had cancelled, we would’ve lost our money. The cancellation came the night before our planned arrival, adding stress to an already difficult situation—we were visiting Buckfastleigh to help family move.
I ended up booking a last-minute Airbnb, and my husband stayed home with the dog. The whole thing could’ve been avoided with basic courtesy and professional communication. Sadly, I can’t recommend this host based on our experience. You have been warned.

Cosy, warm cottage with some nice homely touches. The location was good for us as it was just off the centre of Buckfastleigh. The host was very accommodating when we arrived earlier than expected! My youngest son enjoyed the bingo game and the teenager loved that Netflix was included 😆
Would have preferred a king size bed but it was quite comfortable. There could have been a few more mugs and drinking glasses.

Our second time at the cottage and we love it.
It’s big enough for our family (2 adults and 2 children)

Clean, near to town centre, nice courtyard garden, parking on site, An the owner very friendly.
Bit basic, nice and clean etc but not much individual character. No extras, no cafetière, no teapot, one loo roll (!) not much kitchen equipment, no instruction manual for cooker which was necessary. No welcome pack, just bottle of cheap white wine.

The location of the house was perfect for walking into Buckfastleigh, but also for site seeing around Devon, great transport links into Exeter or Plymouth.
It was lovely having breakfast out in the back garden. I loved stargazing on the clear nights.
It was so handy have a parking space right outside at the front of the property.
My daughter loved the outdoor swimming pool and playground, a couple of minutes down the road from the house.

Great size for a family of 4 every thing we needed was at the property . Lovey town a few minutes walk away . The kids loved the open air pool and park at the bottom of the road.
Nothing I couldn’t think of one thing to complain about.

No coffee machine (I am Italian!) or cheese grater but that was easy to solve.

Easy parking, Easy access to supermarket (within walking distance), Buckfastleigh Abbey close by. Nice courtyard garden for eating outside. Comfortable and clean.
Would have helped to provide the following - a map of the local town, dish washer tablets and more than 1 composting bag.

Beautiful little cottage, clean and cosy, in a lovely, safe, quiet neighbourhood close to the town centre. Bed was comfy, shower was good and the kitchen appliances and utensils seemed to be brand new. It had everything that we needed and more, and it felt like home! An, the hostess, was very welcoming and helpful, and gave us lots of local recommendations. She also fixed an issue that we had with the internet connection very quickly. Netflix (not free) and Freeview available and also good wifi. Heating worked well though not really necessary, the cottage was well insulated for the cold and the heat. Private parking space just outside the door. Little rear patio as well. 20 mins drive to the beach and very close to Dartmoor beautiful sites. We loved it and would love to be back soon! Thanks An!
We would love to have some reading lights for our next visit :)
