"THE DONATI TOWER'S SANTA CROCE Apartment" on the 4th floor of the Medieval TOWER with elevator; it has an incredible private balcony overlooking the city center and its main buildings (Santa Croce, Piazzale Michelangelo, San Miniato al Monte, Forte Belvedere ..), the roofs of the city and the hills. Located on the fourth floor of one of the few remaining medieval towers, incorporated in a late Renaissance palace. Ideal for 4 people, with living room, fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with shower cabin, wi-fi, AC.

THE PALACE AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
The ancient 13th-century tower belonged to the powerful Donati family. When the fortune of the Donati waned, the tower was incorporated in the second half of the sixteenth century into the Palazzo degli Albizi, a family of Florentine merchants and bankers who competed for a long time with the Medici for city supremacy. From the Albizi the palace passed in the 18th century to the Tassinari family and finally in 1929 to the family of the current owners.
The apartments located in a very central and ancient street, as well as the entire Palace and the Tower, are of great historical interest and bound by the Superintendence of artistic and cultural heritage of the Ministry of Culture. It is therefore the ideal place to dive in the history and beauty of the golden age of Florence.
The Donati Tower Apartments are located in an ideal position to reach on foot the most important sights and museums of Florence: among others, the Basilica of Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, the Bargello Museum, the Duomo with Giotto's Bell Tower, the Medici Chapels in San Lorenzo, the Accademia Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, as well as Palazzo Pitti, the church of Santo Spirito and the Boboli Gardens across the River Arno.
Being the owner a librarian by profession, he is of course obliged to suggest a visit or two to the nearby municipal library of the Oblate, in via dell'Oriolo, achieved in a spectacular architectural environment, with a large terrace and bar practically under the Brunelleschi’s Dome of the Duomo: internet, reading rooms, international magazines, children's room…
Bakery, greengrocer, butcher, newsagent, supermarket and pharmacy are a short step from the apartment, as well as the typical market of Sant'Ambrogio where to find all the Tuscan food specialties, and taverns and restaurants, with great traditional Tuscan cuisine.
And eventually shopping in the boutiques of the most famous Italian and foreign designers on the nearby via Calzaiuoli, via Roma, via Tornabuoni, via della Vigna Nuova.

Perfect from the time we arrived to when we left. Our amazing hosts met us upon arrival and provided great information about the apartment and the area, even providing a list of favorite restaurants and gelato! We would stay here over and over. Loved everything !

We arrived and were immediately greeted and lead to our unit. It was absolutely a stunning apartment with a beautiful view. Everything about our stay was wonderful! The owners provided us with information on things we might need, places to eat, grocery stores, taxi, and other places we would need or might want to visit. The owners were exceptionally prepared and helpful. The apartment was beautifully furnished! The kitchen amply supplied! The beds were super comfortable and the rooms nicely furnished. This was the very best place we have stayed in for VRBO! It was very clean, roomy and was an excellent location! This rivals a 5 STAR resort or hotel! We highly recommend this owner and their fabulous unit!

We loved our stay here in this beautiful two bedroom apartment in central Florence, easily walkable to all the historic sites, lovely restaurants and railway station. We stayed here for 3 nights and were warmly greeted by our host Stefano, who gave us local suggestions for the area which was so helpful. The apartment was quiet, beautifully decorated and furnished with a lovely view from the balcony which extends from the master bedroom to the living room. Each bedroom also has an ensuite which was ideal for 2 couples. We will definitely be returning.

Great property in the middle of the city. Everything is a 5-10 minute walk from the front door. Numerous restaurants, cafes, plazas and shopping very close by or next door. The host are A++++ 5 Stars all the way !!!! Had fresh fruit, coffee, water and a bottle of prosecco for us !!!
