Lovely Home In Smokvica

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property has two houses, each with a bedroom, sofa bed, bathroom and kitchen. We mainly used the smaller house because of its convenient outdoor dining area. The boys loved the pool, table tennis, bikes and old fashioned French style ball game. The property is peaceful and surrounded by vineyards, yet only around 3 km from Smokvica and a 30 minute drive from Korčula Town. Žitna beach is nearby and is beautiful, quiet and tucked away. The sea is crystal clear and perfect for snorkelling, so bring your snorkels. Tino was a fantastic host. Communication was easy and he was very helpful, including meeting us in Smokvica and showing us the easier route to the property. Do not blindly follow Google Maps through Smokvica, as it may send you onto very steep, narrow and twisty village roads. Tino’s route is straightforward and the road between Smokvica and the property is fine. The biggest surprise was the night sky. Despite staying around a nearly full moon, we had a short window around 4am after the moon had set and saw an incredible Milky Way. There is very little haze, excellent visibility and virtually no light pollution. We can only imagine how amazing it would be around a new moon. This property would be especially perfect for anyone who is into stargazing or astrophotography.

Very little, to be honest. The property listing was accurate, including the fact that there is no kettle or washing machine, so there were no surprises. The property is solar powered with battery storage, so we assume the lack of a kettle and washing machine is to avoid using too much power. We simply boiled water in a saucepan and washed clothes by hand, so it wasn’t a major problem for us. The main minor issue was the WiFi, which can become very limited when several people and devices are connected. Mobile signal is also limited at times.
